Luton – While The Cat’s Away The Mice Can Still Play

Corny I know but the headline does serve a purpose for the coming seven days.

Those in the know knew I took a mini-break, earlier this month, to Somerset where the wi-fi was intermittent to say the least.

However, from this Thursday I will be away from the editorial desk while I enjoy a 7-day sojourn in sunny Benidorm, and I have no intention of taking my laptop.

But, while I’m away, I’m asking you to continue to post comments, on this article, on anything that takes your fancy, including but not limited to:

• Transfer News relating to ins and outs, permanent or loan

• Fixtures (especially Swansea City (a)

• Any Watford managerial changes, they must be due one by now!

I’ll be back ahead of the home game with Sheffield United, but after the COVID fiasco and several personal issues, I need 7 days in the sun to recharge my batteries.

Take care, I’ll be back before you know it, but please help the site to continue to tick over as you have done so marvellously recently.

Enjoy the well earned break MH!
Hopefully we will have a left sided centre back and a few more points by your return!

  • Chris winter says:

Hi mh, have a very good holiday enjoy the sun.

  • Chris winter says:

Is anyone else impressed by njs latest comments about our situation. Or just bored by his usual pondering.

    • Steve Bahrain says:

I am fed up of his continued player list deliberately omitting Pereira’s name… At this point the sooner the loan happens the sooner I can stop picking up on it.
Don’t think anything else a revelation in the article, anyone watching can see we have at least 11 players off of the pace at the moment…
Hope for a sharp improvement, 1 good run in the Championship often the difference between playoff or relegation with it as tight once again this year as we are accustomed to.

  • Alan says:

I’m fed up & bored with hearing all the negatives going round.we are 4 games in ( league b4 anyone jumps in) see how we are doing 10/15 games in. I said to Chris on hear b4 Tuesdays game that panic would set in if we lost. People on some sites calling for NJ to go….we are victims of last seasons success, it will always be tough to replicate again….or will it…????

    • Steve Bahrain says:

“1 good run in the Championship often the difference between playoff or relegation “…. Not being negative, performance other night was dreadful which is worrying but look at Forest last year… Have never called for NJ to go and said he is our greatest asset in previous posts.
Have seen a lot of cuts from Twitter, which is why I don’t grace them doom troll sites.

  • Alan says:

    Same as that…..

  • Chris winter says:

As I said myself Alan look at forests position after 15 games where did they end up!!!!

  • Tony Byfield says:

One thing that baffles me is the continual long list of injuries. Why can’t we keep players fit, is the training too physical. With all the sports scientists on the books we really should be doing a lot better on players available.
Agree, too early for panic but still very concerned.

  • Roby says:

So sad to see Carlos loaned out ,NOT EVEN A CHANCE in the league this season !! Lee also never given a sniff in the Championship, nor Pereira. Thankfully Thorpe being given glimpses of hope. ?? Kioso surely will prove to be a COSTLY release & go on to shineb as he did at all his loan clubs !!
Seems too many lethargic players resting on their laurels & new blood being given a run might just give them the kick up the backside they sorely need.

Jones wants competition for every position ,but rarely implements it ??
! Lockyer needs to be given more chances too,he is chomping at the bit.

as for the acadamy players ?? how much have we WASTED on an acadamy for 20 years ?? only Keane,Howells & Justin came through !! the first 2 were were well over 15 years ago !! but Nowich & Chelsea snapped up our best talent while young !!

    • Steve Bahrain says:

Not risking the academy conversation again, plenty said there on previous posts… As for fringe players I agree, but it is beyond playing them, Luton won’t even mention their names unless discussing loans. Pereira is injured at minute but you will have to read other sources to find that out… If we can’t speak his name when he scores, assists, win penalties, plays out of position then naturalyl won’t tell us he’s injured… Especially when we have only mentioned Pelly being injured still 3 times already every day.
Lockyer I feel for, but we had to bed Burke back in after his injury earlier and so has probably been the victim of that scenario whilst covering for Naismith hole in back at same time… Don’t think Bell is a long term solution there as he likes to get forward as if playing wing back (great assist other week all the same).
Others will have different opinions no doubt, just my view

  • Alan says:

Pereira has a niggle….pelly is running….Doughty was bought as a left sided wing back, so will push bell for that position…..cornick is close….there is no dressing room bust ups despite rumours floating about…..the medical team & sport scientists are working to solve the injury situation again. It’s just something that happens. It is only when teams are struggling that people start asking questions. If we had a win amongst our start these questions wouldn’t be asked…..there are a few more things going on at present, but as chris knows, somethings can’t be shared…..

    • Steve Bahrain says:

Thanks Alan, always appreciate the low down you give us.
Lansbury still on that list or close to return now.
And where is Snodgrass these days? Not seen any mention of him anywhere from any club…

      • Alan says:

Lansbury as far as I’m aware could well be available over the next couple of games. Snodgrass is at motherwell….

  • jimbo says:

don’t press the panic button just yet. we all disagree with n.j. sometimes, but he is the man for luton to progress. last season was unbelievable, but reaching the playoffs takes a monumental effort. we must look to the future, because it looks good. supporters memories are very short, me included. good details from alan again. COYH.

  • Graham says:

On a lighter note…..Barnsley lose in the Championship play-offs then get relegated.
Luton lose in the Championship play-offs, sign Woodrow & Morris from Barnsley, then go to the relegation places!
I hope both these lads play out of their skins for the next few games as I’m really looking forward to eating my humble pie!!!

    • Steve Bahrain says:

I am still trying to swallow my “we look light at the back with Naismith covering as centre back role” comment from 3 games in last season… So hoping you get an equally large slice of humble pie Graham lmao

  • Graham says:

Cheers Steve, I’ll enjoy a large glass with it!

  • Chris winter says:

I have just been reading gomes on his joining Fleetwood. An I have to say that it seems to me he see’s his future away from Luton. Which is a shame but he has to be playing regularly as a player. If I’m wrong fair enough. But we know players will always now do what is best for them.

    • Steve Bahrain says:

Read that but tried to see it in a more optimistic light, let’s hope he has a good spell with them as we’ll either have a better player or a higher offer from the back of it.
FLW predicting 4-3-3 with Pereira on the right… Watching the Millwall highlights, seemed down the right flank was the only time they had real joy against Swans, so that might work well (although Harry Cornick would have had a lot of joy down that channel also you feel).

  • Alan says:

    And he’s injured …

  • Steve Bahrain says:

    Any score predictions today?
I am going 2-2… Long trip over and Swans looking comfortable in possession last few games but think we’ll get something out of it.

  • jimbo says:

will be interesting to see todays performance. see if they can string passes, and win the second ball. need morris to show what he can do.? hope that a win will give confidence back to players and supporters. COYH.

  • Chris winter says:

No pace no width no chance!!! Muskwie an adebayo start really!! An they say nj doesn’t play favourites. Others paying the price!!! Now watch them prove me wrong 😂😂😂

  • Alan says:

Go on you luton favourites….lol….Morris looked a different player without adebayo….shows the two don’t work together….

    • Chris winter says:

Your dead right Alan time for nj to drop adebayo an not play Muskwie again. They should have been hooked earlier. Great defending today helped an one in the eye for the potts haters been a star.

      • Steve Bahrain says:

Potts was surely MotM today, solid both ends. And thought Morris looked much improved after hitting the back of the net, maybe some transfer anxiety.
Determination across the pitch much much better and finally out Luton’d another team.

  • Chris winter says:

Morning all an opinion on yesterday’s game, as Alan has said adebayo an Morris does not work solution drop adebayo for now he’s not doing it on the pitch. Maybe Jerome an Morris does or put the old pairing of woodrow an Morris back together I know people will say it got Barnsley Relegated wrong last season both had long injuries an didn’t get the chance to play consistently. The season before they fired an maybe they can again. The cabin boy what more can I say he’s had no end of chances to prove he can do it but has failed. He’s not up to the standard needed. He needs shipping out on loan for the season. And perriera has to be given the same opportunities the cabin boy has had by staying. For the potts haters yet again he’s been outstanding in defence an is joint top scorer for us lol what more does he have to prove.

  • jimbo says:

thought lockyer played very well, needs to stay in defence. morris scored a good goal, but doe’s he do enough, still not sure. campbell definetly man of match. non stop power house, and chipped in with goal. if potts continues his good run, then i am sure the so called haters ,or the people that express there opinions as i like to call them, will give the praise that his performance demands. if you don’t perform don’t expect any praise.i don’t think muskwe should be in the team, but i don’t hate him. lets hope the doom and gloom has lifted a bit after our fantastic win at swansea. onwards and upwards.COYH

    • Chris winter says:

Jimbo unlike Morrell I don’t hate Muskwie I just feel he’s not good enough. He tries that’s in his favour I just think a loan is his best bet.
