Luton – While The Cat’s Away The Mice Can Still Play

Corny I know but the headline does serve a purpose for the coming seven days.

Those in the know knew I took a mini-break, earlier this month, to Somerset where the wi-fi was intermittent to say the least.

However, from this Thursday I will be away from the editorial desk while I enjoy a 7-day sojourn in sunny Benidorm, and I have no intention of taking my laptop.

But, while I’m away, I’m asking you to continue to post comments, on this article, on anything that takes your fancy, including but not limited to:

• Transfer News relating to ins and outs, permanent or loan

• Fixtures (especially Swansea City (a)

• Any Watford managerial changes, they must be due one by now!

I’ll be back ahead of the home game with Sheffield United, but after the COVID fiasco and several personal issues, I need 7 days in the sun to recharge my batteries.

Take care, I’ll be back before you know it, but please help the site to continue to tick over as you have done so marvellously recently.

A question if nj does not play favourites who doesn’t currently playing deserve a place in the team on Friday. An who plays in his place?

  • Alan says:

I’d start Jerome & Morris up top. Might give Adebayo something to think about is he is benched. Not criticism, just think he needs to realise there is competition for his place. Cornick maybe ready, so options if him & addy to come later if needed….think rest of the starting line from Saturday deserve their place.

  • Chris winter says:

I agree with you lol. Hope to see cornick back sooner rather than later. Also as I’ve posted maybe woodrow and Morris injuries last season cost them. That they could redevolp the form of the previous season would be good.

  • Alan says:

I would start Jerome & Morris. Not criticism but would have addy on bench, just so he knows there is competition for his place. Have cornick, if fit, & addy on the bench, to come later. Think defence & midfield that started Saturday should start…

  • Alan says:

Sorry not repeating myself, didn’t think post went through 1st time…lol…

Cornick, Lansbury, Doughty, Pelly, Berry and Fred…
NJ said again he has 6 injuries… Are you sure Pereira is injured Alan as that would be seven… Or he just isn’t being selected for the squad since the cup? And not part of any plans this season…
Would love to hear the club acknowledge that situation specifically

    • Alan says:

He was having treatment this morning. Plus you’re counting berry in the ” six ” but in fact he was on the bench Saturday

  • Alan says:

He was having treatment this morning. You’re putting berry in that 6 but he was available on Saturday.

Just been reading flw blog. An while they generally get it wrong they claim talks are in progress to tie him down to a new contract. While at the same time getting him a season loan. For me that sums up the attitude of the club to this player. If that’s true I wouldn’t blame him if he rejected an offer an ran out his contract. Played a season in lge1 an then got a move to a club that valued him. Or even got a move back to the championship. I’ve never seen him not try an he offers something different yet nj just doesn’t seem to rate him.

    • Steve Bahrain says:

After a fantastic pre-season, what is he going to have to show next year when he returns to get a chance then? Hopefully just another FLW miss, Alan finally got me calm and optimistic on the Pereira front.
I thought you might comment on the Ipswich comings and goings CW… With rumour mill on Cabin Boy heading out and more spending on academy players who will be loaned with no immediate impact…
Any rumours on the Left CB front at minute?

  • Chris winter says:

I didn’t think anything of that because he’s off to Huddersfield apparently Steve. The offer is on the table for the German guy waiting for his club to decide if he’s wanted for this season. Personally I believe he will reject an offer to stay an move on at the end of the season. Especially when the cabin boy who isn’t cutting it. Keeps getting picked an chances ahead of him.

  • Chris winter says:

I see Bradford City connections have blown the gaff on what’s happening with perriera. Seems my opinion wasn’t far off the mark about the clubs opinion of him Steve. They are only offering him a contact to get money for him. Not keep him would seem to be the plan.

    • Steve Bahrain says:

Yeah I see CW, and putting him back down to League 2 to improve his development… Understand that there’s talk no opportunity available in League 1… I just don’t see how he doesn’t make the 25 man squad with our current wide attacker situation and being around the group surely better than stuck in League 2 year in year if going to cut it as a Championship player…
Holding my breath still as if it has been purely injuries keeping him out of squad, then will be clear what is happening there by end of next week either way and judge at that point… Just weird they will not speak his name at the club, must be either Morrell or Voldemort in fancy dress

      • Chris winter says:

If the talk is right Steve, the only reason they want him on a longer contract is to sell him on. I can never say to much but remember I said if he doesn’t want to even with a club caviat of an extra year. He can get what he wants. By running his contract out.

  • Chris winter says:

Nj must have spent more time looking at his bible than the Swansea game the cabin boy excellent. I think not just putting effort in but not being good enough. Doesn’t cut it for me!!!!

  • Steve Bahrain says:

Pre-match press conference was really telling and well done to the second guy asking questions, straight to the heart of questions.
