Interest In Scottish Midfielder Resurfaces

Sometimes, when it comes to transfers, there is no smoke without fire when it comes to some pieces of speculation.

Last month, here on Vital Luton, we ran an article covering the speculation suggesting Luton Town were interested in signing the Motherwell midfielder, Allan Campbell – luton-linked-with-scottish-midfielder.

However, the suggestion was quickly shot down by Nathan Jones and also covered by us – fed-a-red-herring.

Now you would have thought that would be the end of the subject matter, but no!

Today, lurking in the pages of The 72 is the inference that a deal could be in the offering.

Our quoted source is reporting that the 22-year-old has rejected a new deal at Motherwell and is looking for a new challenge next season.

Now, although it could all just be media speculation, if Luton were interested in a deal, could we have a head start on any rivals for his signature with Motherwell being managed by the former Luton Town favourite, Graham Alexander.

Indeed, Alexander, in our linked to article, gives the perfect description of Campbell’s abilities when he is quoted as remarking about his failure to get the youngster to sign a new deal:

“I had one last shot at it a couple of weeks ago and we did offer him a very good contract for us, because I didn’t want to get to the summer, he goes elsewhere, and we hadn’t tried everything we can to keep him.

“As I keep saying, he’s a brilliant player, a brilliant professional, and any manager would be desperately keen to keep him on board.”

So, reading what has been offered, we have a few questions for you to answer:

1 – Are Luton really in the hunt for Campbell?

2 – Was Nathan Jones holding his cards close to his chest when denying our interest last month.

3 – Is it a case of no smoke without fire?

4 – Is it all still just media speculation?
