Luton Face A Shock Departure This Summer

Perusing the plethora of media articles that can be accessed, it appears that the Hatters could be set to lose their captain.

According to Football League World, Sonny Bradley has turned down the offer of a new deal at Kenilworth Road and looks set to leave the club, this summer.

The 29-year-old, who has been a mainstay of the side this season, making 41 appearances in all competitions, including 37 in the Championship, if the suggestion is true, obviously feels his time at Kenilworth Road is coming to an end.

Signed on a free transfer, from Plymouth Argyle, in 2018, Bradley has made 131 appearances for the club and has scored 3 goals.

As far as possible destinations go, a move to Preston has been mentioned by several sources, including, Lancs Live.

If Bradley is keen to move on, two questions need answering.

1 – Would his departure weaken our defence?

2 – Who would take over the captaincy?

As far as the first question goes, I believe that a central defensive partnership of Tom Lockyer and Kal Naismith would serve the Hatters very well.

As for the second question, those who frequent this site are already campaigning for Kal Naismith to don the armband.

But is he your choice?

Please feel free, in our comment facility beneath this article, to have your say on the above subject matter.

I like sonny and I think he would improve with us in another season in the championship..but with lockyer and osho available I think we can cope….maybe lockyer or Naismith could be skipper….

I believe we missed a trick not extending his contract last year. As with some other players we are leaving ourselves I open to losing them with little compensation!

    • Mad Hatter says:

That does appear to be the case although some who do have contracts that expire this summer do have options of a further year if the club wants to keep them
