Luton – Fed A Red Herring

Yesterday, sifting through the plethora of transfer speculation that floods the internet, it appeared that Luton Town were interested in signing Motherwell’s Scottish midfielder, Allan Campbell.

It was a piece of speculation that we covered in the following article – luton-linked-with-scottish-midfielder.

However, it now appears that we were fed something of a red herring.

Talking to the media, ahead of our Championship fixture with Reading this evening, and as reported by Luton Today, Nathan Jones, when asked about the Hatters apparent interest I the 22-year-old, had this to say:

“No, not at all.

“It’s wrong of me to speak of anyone else’s players and the boy is at Motherwell, so I know Graham very well, but no, no interest in that.

“People will talk, people will try to generate interest.

“A lot of people have used our name because we are the type of club that likes to get people, so to generate interest, I would imagine someone has put that in the paper.”

Nathan Jones has obviously moved quickly to quash any speculation but, as we said yesterday, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall returning to Leicester City after his loan spell finishes and with doubts about the future of, among others, George Moncur, our midfield certainly requires attention this summer.

If Allan Campbell is not on our radar, then who is?

Does anyone care to nominate a name or two?

morning all, Nathan & Mick were watching Rotherham v Birmingham on Sunday, hopefully they were running the rule over Lewis Wing, an attacking midfielder on-loan from Middlesbrough who would seem to be surplus to requirements at the Riverside.
NJ said at the close of the last window we would be returning to a target we were unsuccessful in signing, my guess would be Kyle Dempsey at Gillingham or Kyle Edwards at WBA. I wouldn’t rule out Walton returning either if there was some renewed interest in Slugga.
NJ has certainly got some big decisions to make on who to keep and release.

Speculation involving a return for Walton refuses to go away, like you say I guess it depends on any forthcoming interest in Sluga.

morning MH, yes it does keep resurfacing, just not sure whether it would strengthen us or vice versa. It would be a shame if Slugga went having been a big part of our Championship survival plus i think there’s still more improvement to come from him.

Sluga has certainly turned his fortunes around after his poor start last season, I think he’s better than Walton but it may come down to money and as we all know, money talks. Any fee received could strengthen other areas of the side.

imo if shea goes sugn Walton as number2 to sluga if shea stays then we sumoly don t need him and would be a waste of money
