But that is an expression that could apply to every remaining game of our 2019 / 2020 season!

This Saturday, Luton Town welcome Reading, to Kenilworth Road, for their fourth Championship fixture since the resumption of the 2019 / 2020 Championship season.

After taking a very satisfying 5 points from the last 9 available, against three very good teams, confidence is high in the Hatters camp as the fight to avoid relegation continues.

With the game set to be played behind closed doors, the Hatters support will be hoping their team can take the three points on offer and, hopefully, if results go our way, climb off the bottom and head towards safety.

Whereas Luton Town are in good form since the Championship resumed, the same can’t be said of a Reading side managed by the former Welsh international, Mark Bowen.

In their three games, Reading have accumulated a solitary point with their results reading as thus:

• Reading 1 Stoke City 1
• Derby County 2 Reading 1
• Reading 0 Brentford 3

Bowen’s side currently sits in 16th place in the Championship table with 49 points and should be safe from relegation.

In the reciprocating fixture, back in November 2019, a Graeme Jones managed Luton side were soundly beaten 3-0, surely the chance exists for the Hatters to get revenge this Saturday?

With the situation so delicately balance around the foot of the Championship table, it is essential that Luton get something, preferably a win, from this fixture.

The gaffer, as reported by Luton Today, is aware of just how important all the remaining games are, having remarked:

“Now the games come thick and fast, very difficult games and massive games that we’ve got to take points from.”

thoughts also echoed by the scorer of our goal at Elland Road, Harry Cornick:

“We’ve got to pick up as many points as we can, we go into Saturday and we need three points.”

Three points on Saturday, against Reading, will set Luton up perfectly for the crunch fixture, next Tuesday, against another club fighting to avoid relegation, Barnsley.
