This afternoon Luton Town welcome reading to Kenilworth Road for a crucial Championship fixture.
The Hatters Championship survival chances have been boosted by collecting 5 points out of the 9 available since the resumption of the 2019 / 2020 season.
But it is becoming clearer by the game that the dog fight, at the foot of the Championship table, is going to go all the way to the last game of the season.
On Thursday night, I’m sure I wasn’t the only Luton supporter to cringe when a late goal gave Hull City a win against Middlesbrough, a draw would have suited Luton far better than a Hull City win.
Thankfully, last night, Millwall did the Hatters something of a favour when they beat Charlton Athletic, leaving Charlton still involved in the relegation mix-up.
It’s becoming clear that Luton cannot afford to drop points against teams in the coming games, the home game against Reading is quickly followed by a home game against Barnsley.
Six points from those two games would be a wonderful boost for our chances of staying up.
Ahead of the Reading game, this afternoon, we used our poll facility to ask what you believe the result would be.
Luton’s recent good form has convinced 86% of you who voted that Nathan Jones side will beat Reading this afternoon.
A mere 6% believe Reading will return to Berkshire with the three points while the remaining 8% reckon it’ll be a draw.
Here’s hoping that the majority will be right, and we can all pop down the pub tonight and have a pint or two.
