Millwall v Luton – Hatters Injury Update

The trip, to take on Millwall this Saturday, has been a fixture eagerly awaited by the Hatters support.

Boring international breaks continue to be the bane of my life, dull and dreary and nothing to do on a Saturday.

But Championship football is back and like many other I cannot wait.

Millwall, as I mentioned in a previous article – a-hard-game-to-predict-the-outcome-of – will be tough opposition.

But, after reporting Luton’s injury woes ahead of the last three or four games, we can confirm that the squad is, injury-wise, in much better shape as we prepare for this titanic battle.

When it comes to injuries, at one stage Nathan Jones had to make do without:

• Dan Potts
• Sonny Bradley
• Amari’i Bell
• Jordan Clark
• Glen Rea
• Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu
• Luke Berry
• Allan Campbell
• Fred Onyedinma
• Admiral Muskew
• Danny Hylon

But, according to the local media source, Luton Today, things have dramatically improved during the two-week international break with our referenced source carrying some quotes from Nathan about the vastly improved situation with Nathan quoted as having remarked about the recent international break:

“It was very good, it allowed us to do some real good work and rest the ones we needed to rest, work the ones we needed to work and get pretty much everyone back.

“So, we’re in good shape, it’s been a good couple of weeks.

“One or two are not quite ready, ready if you like, but everyone’s back, everyone’s had good sessions in the two weeks so we’re in a much better place.”

Now that is the kind of news, we have all been waiting for in recent weeks, but the return to fitness of so many does give Nathan selection problems.

The last two fixtures Luton played, produced decent performances including that 5-0 rout of Coventry City, which leaves us asking the question:

Will Nathan make wholesale changes for the Millwall trip?

We’ll await the answering of that question when the team sheet is revealed on Saturday, but I would appreciate your input, in our comment facility, when it comes to your views.

But the return to fitness of so many does give Nathan further options when, next Tuesday, we travel to take on Derby County, something the boss touched on and as reported by our referenced source, Luton Today, when he further remarked:

“One or two probably won’t be ready for Saturday, in terms of exposing them to a game of the magnitude of Millwall away, but they are ready, they are training, and they are ready for when they’re called upon.

“An extra day today and tomorrow, then the weekend, they’ll be even more ready for Tuesday.”

It just remains to be seen as to whether we can get through the pre-match warm up without losing anybody, something that has not happened for three or four matches now!

Morning mh, I have to disagree with you slightly on this one. Yes injuries have improved an some are fit? Now.. But lack of game time means that for me it will be the same team as before the break with a stronger bench and one or two getting minutes later on in the game. No longer having reserve team games an only friendly under 23 games is causing longer time out through injury in my opinion. As games are fewer an far between now for us.

bring back the good old Football Combination, spent many an hour in a near deserted Kenilworth Road watching the youngsters and old pro’s coming back from injury..

Hi all, I must agree with Chris and we have to work some of these players back so I can’t see whole sale changes . I would start with Cameron Jerome to try and rough up their defence a bit then bring Elijah on . I think Cameron has a bit more about him to handle the defence. Coyh

Hi adrew, I think both should start the game adebayo can last 90mins with no loss of stamina. Jerome would give us a good 60 mins before bringing on pace. It’s something I have been banging on about for weeks in this division defences are big rough an have to be worked over.
