Luton Town – The Thoughts Of Honest Rob – Arsenal (h)

The anguished look on Rob Edwards face as Declan Rice headed home Arsenal’s late, late winner said it all.

Indeed, it perfectly illustrated the expression that a picture is worth a thousand words.

The gaffer, after his team had rattled Arsenal, I mean who else scores three times against them, looked distraught.

To come so close to earning something against the current Premier League leaders and putting in such a shift, on the pitch, was something Rob would have hoped for, even more so after the drab performance away to Crystal Palace, last Saturday.

Obliged to carry out the media interviews afterwards, and as reported by the BBC, Rob gave an accurate assessment about his approach to the game, remarking:

“We thought we’d have a go, that’s what our supporters want. That’s our identity. Arsenal wanted a game of order and we made it chaotic at times. I’m really flat for everyone. I’m so proud of the lads.”

At times chaos did rule, the Gunners didn’t know how to cope and were, at times, forced to chase the game, expanding further, Rob added:

“We needed the numbers out in the wide areas. Arsenal have a clear way of playing. We’re trying to get pressure on the ball and adapt.”

“We work really hard on both sides of the game. We always have a plan. Arsenal don’t give you a lot. We’ve got really good delivery and we’ve got people who want to attack it. We do a lot of work on it and more so in the last few months. The players are really enjoying it.”

Indeed, they looked to be thriving against a team that were supposed to blow us away.

Which makes me wonder have we set out a blue-print for the remainder of the Premier League to do a number on the Gunners?

But with no points from the last six available, things don’t get any easier this Sunday when we welcome last seasons’ treble winners, Manchester City, to Kenilworth Road, prompting Rob to further add:

“It gets tougher. These are the games we wanted. We’ve probably given a good few memories to some of our supporters here to see Arsenal come here. When I see them clapping at the end, I know we’ve done our job.”

Manchester City, are you ready for the Hatters?

Take us for granted at your peril!

Bad times for Man City. They might bounce back with a vengeance or,,,
maybe, just maybe, we can again score 3 and restrict them to 2. Nothing is impossible with this Hatters team.
    And
the best team in the Premiership?
    Rob Edwards and Mick Harford.
