It should be quite an occasion when, this coming weekend, the reigning European Champions and Premier League winners, Manchester City, come to Kenilworth Road.
Now whether the Hatters can spring a major surprise and get a valuable three points, or even a point, remains to be seen.
However, their visit does give me the perfect opportunity to run one of our ‘They Played for Both’ series.
Looking through past files it appears I’ve not done a Manchester City one before, so after some deliberation, I’ve come up with the following XI (plus substitute):
Goalkeeper – Andrew Dibble
Defender – Issa Kabore
Defender – Paul Futcher
Defender – David Oldfield
Defender – John Ryan
Midfield – Tony Grealish
Midfield – Alan Harper
Midfield – Luke Bolton
Forward – Paul Walsh
Forward – Paul Dickov
Forward – Ron Futcher
Substitute – Imre Varadi
But, as usual, have I omitted someone who deserves a place in the XI or just, maybe, a mention?

Luton Town – For The Love Of Alan
Does anyone else recall the FA Cup tie in 1961 against Man City ?
The match was abandond in the second half with a waterlogged pitch, City were leading 6-2 at the time and Dennis Law had scored all 6.
The match was replayed on the Wednesday and Luton marked Law out of the game
and won 3-1.
I don’t remember seeing either of the games myself, but caught the report onthe radio.
Hi Tony I believe law is the only player to score 6goals and end up on the losing side.
Thanks Chris: Would make a good quiz question
