It’s been almost forty-eight hours since Arsenal silenced the vociferous Kenilworth Road with that injury time winner and I feel okay to put pen to paper.
Football can be such a cruel game, a rollercoaster ride that stirs the emotions.
I’ve always believed that winning a game, courtesy of the last kick of the game is, probably, the biggest high in the game, but last night, I found that losing two points, against one of the best teams in the Premier League, courtesy of virtually the last kick of the game is one of the ultimate lows.
When Declan Rice guided his 97th minute header past Thomas Kaminsky, Kenilworth Road was stunned, it was one of those moments that silenced everybody.
There was not even a slim chance of VAR intervening no matter how hard we all wished for it.
Arsenal had done a number on us, rode their luck and snatched all three points when it looked as if Luton Town had deservedly earned at least a share of the spoils and even the pundits, who gave us no chance had to admit we deserved something from the game.
Driven on by the very impressive Ross Barkley, by far the best midfielder on the pitch last night, Luton gave as good as they got. Sure they ruffled a few Arsenal feathers and it was interesting to see how some of their expensive players fell to the ground so easily after the slightest physical contact.
But the points are gone, despite all our endeavours, it will go down in the record books as a loss, but we can, despite the bitter disappointment, take heart from the game and let’s hope that same spirit shown against the Premier League leaders can be replicated when the treble winners from last season, Manchester City, ride into town on Sunday.
More of the same please Luton, this time surely ‘Lady Luck’ can’t desert us so late again!

Bitterly disappointed first time we scored 3 goals in the premier and we still got beat. My boy and I turned to each other and said with 15 mins to go we’re gonna lose this we could see it coming using Jones defend what we got tactics doesn’t work in the premier also felt we lost cohesion when the subs came on especially the last two.
what a truly fantastic game of football we have seen. this game will be remembered for a long time. the only thing i can say to our players is please give us more of the same. they threw everything they had at arsenal,but thats why arsenal are top of the prem. i feel extremely proud to support luton, and can’t wait for our next game. lets hope our injured players can get fit and help to get results. still enjoying the ride.COYH.
Seems like you were watching different games. The game I watched was nearer Jimbos. What I will say is that each individual Arsenal player either cost or is worth more in the transfer market than the whole of the Luton squad put together so to have given them the game we did and miss a result by seconds is an outstanding achievement. Could we have managed the game better? For me no class will always shine through.
No disrespect or blame but the reality is how could we manage the game in the latter stages with no defenders or defensive midfielders on the bench but instead all in the treatment room? Should we have gambled and put Joe Johnson on to try and shore the back four up? The decision was no.
