Luton Town – Always Look On The Bright Side

Around 17:00 hours yesterday evening, I’ll readily admit I was a very disappointed man.

Another defeat, this time at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers had, I feared, edged us that little bit closer to plunging through the Premier League relegation trapdoor and heading back into the EFL Championship.

With two of, supposed, five cup finals played, we’d lost two with the latest being against a side that hadn’t won for six games, I immediately feared for our future.

But then I took a deep breath and looked on the bright side.

In reality, although we’ve lost the last two games, both being deemed as vitally important, we’re in, as I expect Manchester City to beat Nottingham Forest later today, the same position we were before the five-game cup final run began.

Indeed, our Premier League future is very much in our own hands, three games to play, two at home and one away, three games in which I reckon two wins will have us dancing in the streets of Luton wondering why we ever expended so much angst about being relegated.

Yesterday, there were two trains of thought as, once the action had begun, to how the game could have turned out.

There are those that were of the opinion that we were lucky to escape with just a 2-1 defeat, often riding our luck at times and relying on the excellent Thomas Kaminski to keep us in the game, while the second train of thought believed we could have snatched a draw.

Personally, I’m behind that first train but looking on the bright side acknowledging that Elijah Adebayo is back, and the tall strikers’ presence could be the difference between staying up and, well you know the other option!

Next up is a Friday night visit from Everton, under the Kenilworth Road lights, the game being televised live by Sky Sports. Everton have, officially, accumulated enough points to ensure their Premier League status, putting together a run of three consecutive victories, it’ll be a tough game but is there ever a better opportunity and time to get back to winning ways?
