I can imagine the journey back to Bedfordshire, from Wolverhampton, was a little solemn yesterday afternoon.
Another defeat, for the Hatters, ensures our relegation fight goes on and on, with three fixtures remaining of the 2023/2024 season.
Now I’m not sure what the etiquette is on such a journey home, but I’d imagine the gaffer, Rob Edwards, was deep in thought, pondering how he, and his side, can conjure up something different to halt the current malaise when it comes to getting a positive result.
However, before setting off for home, the gaffer did fulfil his post-match press obligations and speaking to Sky Sports, the gaffer had this to say about how the game went:
“Incredibly frustrated how we conceded the two goals, really disappointed to lose the game of course, but what I saw was some of the things I’ve been asking for throughout the week. I saw elements of a good performance against a good Wolves team.
“We didn’t go away, we kept going, we kept pushing. In terms of an away performance and especially how we were last week, there’s a lot of good stuff there to take into the final three games.
“We don’t know what we’re going to need but the big message from me is ‘we’re in this fight’. We’ve seen a team that are committed there.”
Indeed, we have but that continual failure to eliminate defensive errors continues to haunt us and there is hope that, somehow, our fortunes can be reversed as we approach a critical point in the history of our fine club.
Continuing, Rob further added:
“It’s not won us a game today, so no. But what I saw is a team that is committed and tried to do the right things.
“We clearly made some mistakes – the free header in the box (Toti’s goal) is the biggest one and we’ve said the same kind of things a lot this season where we’ve been close but come away with nothing ultimately.”
Something that could, ultimately, cost us dearly when any analysis is carried out on our fate come May. But there is light at the end of the tunnel, with some players coming back from injury to fight for the cause, with the boss further adding:
“But I’ve seen enough over the course of this season and especially with some of the players, Eli coming back as well, that we can cause teams problems, especially at home.”
And on the continuing relegation battle, Rob finished with:
“I believe, if that’s the question you’re asking me, that we can and the players do as well because if they didn’t they would have shown that in the performance at 2-0 down. There’s enough there, we’ve got enough there.”
We have but maybe we need just a little luck, hopefully ‘Lady Luck’ will play her part!

Luton Town – Always Look On The Bright Side
still hoping for a miracle. would love to see barkley and lokonga bossing the midfield. seemed to have an off day yesterday. good to see elijah back in the team. sure the players will pick themselves up. COYH.
Now Lincoln’s season is over can we use Joe Taylor for the last 3 games of our season please rob we’ve nothing to lose now. Remember how Rory Allen saved us.
maybe mc.atee as well. think it will take more than that chris. maybe as a substitute.COYH.
I know Jimbo but anything different may just be enough. For me I think the risk is worth it.i don’t think we have anything to lose now.
That’s what I thought mh an why I only said Taylor as he’s counted as junior while mctee I think may just be to old ?
are Barnsley not in the play-offs?
But should we give Taylor a chance even if only as a sub mh. Is he our next Rory Allen ?
I would!
