Our trip to the Etihad Sadium was always going to be a tough task considering our precarious injury situation.

Forced to field something akin to a make-shift starting XI, with numerous regular first team players missing, there was always the possibility that we could take a drubbing.

Indeed, in my pre-match ramblings I did say that if we conceded early then we could be in for a long afternnon.

Sadly, the manner in which we fell behind, as early as the second minute, was indicative of the way things are going for us at the moment with the ball cannoning into the net off the face of our Japanese defender, Hashioka.

After that slice of misfortune it was always going to be an uphill struggle and despite battling on bravely, the aforementioned drubbing occurred with title chasing Manchester City running out 5-1 winners.

But, amidst the mayhem, there were some bright spots.

Firstly, we got to witness a superb goal from Ross Barkley, reducing the arrears to 3-1 and giving us brief hope of an unlikely comeback and, secondly, the Hatters support, despite the precarious predicament of their side, vociferously and relentlessly cheering on their side.

But, in the grand scheme of things, our Premier League future was not about how we performed yesterday, we were never expected, even more so with or injury situation, to take anything from the game.

We are perfectly aware that we have FIVE cup finals coming up knowing that our survival is in our own hands, starting with a massive fixture, next weekend, at Kenilworth Road against Brentford.

Morning mh, another fighting performance. Now I have to be honest I don’t think we will escape anymore our injury situation has become a mountain this season to high for us I believe we will go out fighting to the end. But it’s to much now that said we’ve improved 5 places from last year and stuffed the gainsayers at the beginning of the season and are better than man utd who would want to pay good money to watch that dross week in and out. We have a team we can be proud of no matter what.

These comments while hopeful still available to the hope of injured players coming back sadly for me I see no point in risking them to only lose them for next season if it worsens there injury. It seems also the club lacks confidence in blooding a couple of youngsters at this time.

If we get Lokonga, Adebayo, Mengi and Osho back for the last 5 games and have no more injuries we stay up!

I still feel we have a slim chance of beating the drop but with so many players out it’s going to be hard . Chris is right about players coming back from injury , we don’t want to start next season with players missing due to bring them back too soon look at the start of this season players out before a ball was kicked . feel so sorry for potts not getting a minute this season not saying he is premiership player but just to get on the pitch at sometime an other loyal servant to the club . Eight points could be enough if other results go for us – neither Everton nor Forest are inspiring much confidnce in their fans. Two wins, two draws ? Possible? Maybe. Got to keep believing while there’s a hope.
