Another fixture and, sadly, another defeat as the Hatters cling to Premier League survival.

But as many have said, we did not really expect to get anything from a trip to the Etihad Stadium with such a lengthy injury list.

Indeed, with a fully fit squad it would still have been a huge task but I am pretty certain we’d have run them a lot closer.

Following the 5-1 drubbing, Rob Edwards spoke to the media with the BBC reporting that the gaffer had this to say:

“It proved to be a difficult game.

“A long afternoon, the longest game of football I have ever had.”

Indeed, it was, going behind as early as the second minute was not the sort of start Rob would have hoped for, with, I’m sure, the boss wanting his patched up side to frustrate title chasing Manchester City.

Continuing, Rob remarked:

“We are really depleted at the moment, it was a difficult afternoon for us. The players gave everything and we didn’t get off to the best of starts.”

“A great save for Thomas and then a deflected volley off Daiki Hashioka’s head. They wore us down in the end but I cannot fault the players – it is done.”

When it comes to conceding strange goals, that first one is up with the best of them and after chasing the ball for long periods of the game, as City pressed and pressed, was always going to see fatigue play a part late on.

Continuing, Rob further added:

“We now have five huge games that we can get ourselves out of it, we almost have to write this off.”

“We kept going and they got the last couple later on when they wore us down. The players never dropped their heads and we won’t accept that.”

“What gives me belief is our fans right with us till the end and we are going to need them.”

Indeed, despite the drubbing Luton Town can be proud of themselves and, as Rob says, we still have it all to play for and I, for one, would have taken that when our journey began back in August, especially when some highly paid pundits predicted we would be down by Christmas!

you can only dream what our position would be if we played our strongest team. injuries are affecting lots of teams, but we must be COYH.top of the list. would be nice to see some return before the season ends.

Rob gave a great interview said it as it was up against a fantastic team and with what he had to put out as a team what else but a defeat was expected but he was still upbeat not moaning about the players being out or trying to put the defeat on any thing else like other managers down with us, most of the time he has a smile on his face , what a man he is .
