Luton – Surprise Interest In Hatters Defender

Less than a week ago, here at Vital Luton Town, we ran an article implying that the club could be set to bid goodbye to one of its lynch-pin central defenders.

Our article – luton-face-a-shock-departure-this-summer – covered the possibility / probability that our 29-year-old club captain, Sonny Bradley, would be heading for pastures anew now with his contract expiring soon.

Today, speculation has emerged that Preston North End might not be his next destination with The East Anglian Daily Times, inferring that Ipswich Town are keen to secure the services of the 6 feet 5 inches tall defender who has been a mainstay of our defence this season.

With new owners on board, it appears the Suffolk side are set to recruit heavily this summer as they seek to climb back into the Championship.

Personally, I would love to see this once proud club head towards the upper echelons of football, who will ever forget the teams assembled by the late Sir Bobby Robson.

However, my big question regarding this piece of transfer speculation is whether Bradley, after playing Championship football for the past two seasons, would be prepared to drop down a division.

Or would he see it as a temporary step backwards before marching forwards?

Could spells at Hull, Portsmouth, Crawley Town, Plymouth Argyle and Luton Town be followed by a spell at Portman Road?

I would not rule it out but what are your thoughts on the subject matter?

  • Peter Scott says:

I think Bradley is a realist – only Sluga has a possible Premiership pedigree – I dont blame Bradley trying to move to a club that would pay him more money and that he can help up a division next season and I wish him well.
