Luton – I’ve Never Much Liked Queens Park Rangers

A headline that, I’ll make no apologies for, that should grab your attention.

Let me explain!

Back in the 1980’s, after a fixture between the two sides, after exiting Oak Road, I was casually strolling along Dunstable Road, minding my own business, heading towards Waldeck Road.

The plan was to head up towards Biscot Road to catch the bus home, before heading off to the local, The Heron, for a Saturday night session.

But, as I prepared to cross Dunstable Road, at the foot of Kenilworth Road, a mob came surging down the slight incline, fearful of being swamped by what seemed hundreds of Queens Park Rangers supporters, I tried, in the dark, to cross the road, only to fall headfirst over a crash barrier.

On returning to my feet, I noticed I had torn at the knee, my brand-new pair of Levis jeans, something that when purchased earlier that day had cost me an arm and a leg.

From that moment in time, I have never much liked the West London outfit.

Here’s hoping we get that crucial win this weekend.
