In the second in our series, designed to fill the void left by the international break, the focus falls on our goalkeeper, Harry Isted.

This series in designed to provoke a response from our readership relating to the futures of those who are playing away from their parent club.

Back in January, the deal that saw Jack Walton come to Luton Town and Harry Isted move the other way, on loan, was a puzzling one.

Many Hatters supporters couldn’t understand why a keeper was being brought in yet one who, when selected, never let the side down was being allowed to leave.

It’s almost as if somebody, behind the scenes, doesn’t trust Harry.

But since moving to League 1 Barnsley, Harry has already become a firm favourite with the Oakwell crowd.

Indeed, Harry has earned himself a place in the club’s record books after keeping FIVE clean sheets in the fewest games, EIGHT, from debut for Barnsley of any goalkeeper in the club’s history.

Viewing social media sites associated with Barnsley, it is clear to see just how much affection the Barnsley supporters have for their new, albeit on loan, keeper:

But will that be the case?

Is Harry destined to never make it at Luton, could another loan spell be on the cards, or does he indeed have a future at Kenilworth Road?

Similar situation to others on loan, doing well at a lower level. Macey not rated by our support but flying for pompey…..I personally feel once horvath goes back Isted may well be back…

Agree with Alan, can see Harry back next year.
The whole Walton situation has thrown me somewhat though, surely Harry won’t still be third choice? Should be seriously competing with Shea for number 1… Anything less I see his agent taking action in the Summer.

if barnsley want harry, and harry wants barnsley, what a great deal that would be. he has been f##ked about to much and deserves a break. COYH.

Jimbo , I agree with you he should move on now for his career as at luton he is being messed around I would love to see him stay and get the number one shirt but can’t see that happening at the moment thought RE would give him more of a chance. Coyh

With Harry one thing is certain after the way the club has treated him.. Remember he was released by the club 2years ago but agreed to resign after preseason probs in goalkeeping dept stood in for 3games was magnificent an then they buy Walton !!! He will probably agitate for a move in the summer an who amongst the fans can blame him.after his treatment by the club.

  • Bill says:

NJ treated Harry shamefully, it was embarrassing to witness. Why on earth should the lad show us any loyalty? Good luck to him in whatever direction his career takes and thanks for handling the situation with such dignity. I would love to see him turn out regularly for the Hatters but don’t think it will happen.
