Luton – Edwards Prepared To Leave Decision Until The Season End Shock

It doesn’t seem too long ago that here at Vital Luton Town, we wrote an article relating to Ethan Horvath.

Our article – time-to-prioritise-our-first-january-signing – posed the simple question as to whether, on the back of a fine season, so far, Luton Town should make best endeavours to make our USA goalkeeper our transfer priority this January, thereby beating any possible competition for his services in the summer.

However, it appears that Rob Edwards hasn’t heeded our wise words and is content to leave the decision until the end of the season.

In an article published by Luton Today, the gaffer is quoted as remarking:

“I think we’ve got him to the end of the season.

“That’s something for further down the line.

“It’s something we’re aware of, we’re aware of his situation as well.

“We know he’s not our player as such, he is but he’s not, so it’s something to look at further down the line, but he’s certainly made a big impact here.”

With 9 clean sheets in his 25 appearances in all competitions, Horvath has been a consistent performer and Edwards reluctance to sort a deal out, this month, could bounce back and haunt us.

We know, only too well how hard good goalkeepers are to find and my continuing fear is that unless Luton have an exclusive clause in his loan contract, more fine form from Ethan could see a host of clubs willing to pay any inflated fee Nottingham Forest, if they decide to sell, might ask for the player.

Sadly, we can only be patient, trust Rob Edward’s judgement and hope we don’t end up with egg on our faces over this one.

Sorry to disagree with you mh, but Edwards is making a massive mistake in leaving it till the season. If that’s the case as you say find another keeper is going to be hard. That said it may be forest is subsidising his wages an we can’t afford him. That said surely the money from nj can be used for the purchase. A very good keeper is worth more than another defender.

think he is out of our price range.COYH.

To be far Edwards doesn’t say the end of the season, he actually says ” further down the line”

I’m not convinced he’s worth pushing our limits for. He’s been ok but not outstanding most of the time. He hasn’t often had much to do and has let a couple in he shouldn’t have. Young Harry Isted was originally let go which I didn’t understand as he’s looked really solid when he’s played.

still rankles with me as to why Isted hasn’t been given a fair chance, not sure Nathan rated him, hope he fares better under Edwards.

    I rest my case

He’s a decent shot stopper, but doesn’t command his area on crosses and flaps a bit. We have been resolute in defence and covered him well recently, but he was certainly flapping in this one, ad despite the defenders helping him out it fell to West Brom on the day. Couldn’t really complain over the 90 minutes tbh. I’m guessing Burke wasn’t 100% as he was not used despite being under the cosh. If it was the case what was he doing on the bench; if it wasn’t, why wasn’t he on the pitch?
