Luton – Time To Prioritise Our First January Signing

With the January transfer window now, officially, open I am probably not alone in waiting to see if Rob Edwards decides to bring anyone new in.

Indeed, to herald the arrival of the opening of the transfer window, here at Vital Luton Town, we ran an article asking which position you thought required strengthening the most – the-big-january-transfer-window-decision

As it turned out, a defender (presumably a centre back) was seen as the most urgent need.

But should we be looking closer to home?

A regular Vital Luton visitor, Chris, has pointed out that Ethan Horvath, who is currently on a season long loan at Kenilworth Road, is in the situation whereby his contract at his parent club, Nottingham Forest, expires at the end of the season.

Chris goes on to suggest that now might be the ideal opportunity to make the loan deal a permanent one for the USA international.

Now, between us, we’re not sure if the loan deal contains an option to buy clause or not, but his displays between the sticks for Luton Town have convinced us both that we should do our best to secure a deal, even if it means beating the transfer record fee the Hatters, supposedly, paid for Carlton Morris.

After all, there should be money in the kitty after Southampton paid compensation for the services of Nathan Jones.

However, there may be a hurdle to overcome first!

Nottingham Forest’s current keeper, Dean Henderson, is also on a season log loan deal and if Forest are relegated, he may not remain at the club, leaving a position to fill, could Forest turn to Horvath?

But what are your feelings on the subject matter?

Should Ethan Horvath Be A Priority Signing This January?

I’m a little surprised that some are voting against hoverth. Is it because they feel that a defender is more important? Surely 9 clean sheets already means he’s vital to continued success or do they feel he’s not good enough for our number 1 keeper 🤔🤔🤔

  • Clive Batchelor says:

Hoverth is a solid and reliable keeper who has settled in well . Some of the temporary loans that we have done for keepers have not gone too well so to tie him up on a permanent deal would be good business and provide some more stability to the strong defensive set up that we are trying to develop.

i seem to remember a certain james shea being our keeper of choice, and harry isted being a more than capable stand in. is horvath that much better, i’m not so sure? COYH.

Really jimbo? And when will shea be ready to play again? We need a keeper now and isted is certainly a good backup but hasn’t had the luck he deserves to have played more an you don’t seriously think hovarth is better. Come on jimbo I know you want youth to be given more game time but seriously?
