Luton – Can Someone Please Explain?

And so, our hopes of clinching a play-off place hinge on the result of the last game of the season.

If, as we all hope, Luton Town beat Reading, a play-off place will be ours and then who knows what might happen.

Of course, there are many other permutations which mean a draw could suffice, but I’m not sure my nerves would cope with that, let’s just get that victory and enjoy the occasion.

But when it comes to the last round of fixtures, this Saturday, one thing continues to puzzle me?

Why, do all the games kick off at 12:30 hours?

Now I know, throughout the season, there have been a multitude of kick-off times, 12:00, 12:30, 15:00, 17:15, 19:30, 19:45 and 20:00 hours, to name but a few, but why have the EFL gone for 12:30?

I’m sure that someone out there can enlighten me.

I’m guessing the answer is blatantly obvious but for the love of money, it escapes me!

Last day of the season alll games have to kick off at the same time to avoid teams knowing a certain outcome would benefit both and making sure it happens (world Cup 82 W Germany V Austria is the disgraceful.example.).TV will chose a game which because of 3pm blackout be 12:30 or 5:15 KO so all other games get switched to the same KO time

  • jim says:

It also has to be 12:30 so sky can show it. Saturday 3pm still be sacrosanct for those lucky enough to get watch their team live at that time

  • Neil Boustred says:

Sky will want to cover this and you can’t show live games at 1500
And they must all KO at the same time, so 1230 it is
Getting used to my pre match fry up and pint at 1030 now!

    • Mad Hatter says:

but don’t BT Sport cover a premier League game at 12:30 kick-off?

      • Chris Bedford says:

Yes they do. And Sky show an EFL game usually championship at the same time. Practically every Saturday.

        So to recap –

        – all the final day games have to ko at the same time
        – sky have deal to televise the championship , final day being a definite
        – 3pm Saturday ko’s cannot be televised
        – sky wont ever prioritise the championship over their premier league coverage.
        – sky’s prime slots are Sunday 2 pm and 4pm ( and they also usually have a Saturday 5.30 premier league game.)

That basically leaves Saturday 12.30 or possibly Sunday 12 noon.

Hello MH Can’t get my head around 12.30pm either why not 3pm as normal or is it something due to prior drinking time? However what really concerns me is the number of hamstring issues we keep on getting. It cannot just be bad luck Is it a fitness issue or a lack of protocol in the warming up session. It cannot just be the number of games played as other clubs play the same number without the number of hamstring issues.

Anyway what better motivation for the next game than a thrashing on TV in the game before. If we cannot beat teams like Peterborough, Blackpool and Reading we really don’t deserve to be in the play-offs.

.. .T CANNOT BE JUSTBAD LUCKinjusties nd but but bet sKY sKY HAD A SAY IN TE MATTER cANT GET MY HEAD AROUND h

  • Chris, Bedford says:

    Why would they ?

Premier League games kick offs at 2 and 4 on sundays attract the highest viewing figures, There is no benefit to Sky in altering that.

  • Ken says:

To keep people out of the pubs before kick off and hopefully avoid some of the violence.

  • Chris winter says:

Oh an by the way the met police an Fulham stewards. We’re up to there usual tricks. Got pulled yet again and forced to an from the game with a number of others. An threatened by stewards.
