Is the great escape now on?

Could, following the dramatic late win against Derby County, the Hatters be set to defy the critics and climb out of the Championship relegation zone?

It’s amazing what difference a much-needed win makes.

Okay, the performance wasn’t the kind of one that will be remembered, once again we defended too deep, we didn’t press enough and ‘Lady Luck’ was, at times, on our side.

But often, one piece of action can be the catalyst that kick-starts a revolution, could that dramatic late own-goal that gave us the three points be just the impetus needed?

Unfortunately, on a night that Luton finally grabbed a much-needed win all those in the same relegation battle also picked up points but it’s not solely about that, it’s about getting that magical number of points, I reckon it’ll be 44 based on previous campaigns, that should ensure safety.

Next up for the Hatters is a trip to The Hawthorns to take on West Bromwich Albion, there’s no doubting that it will be a huge test but with the Baggies form faltering perhaps the Hatters can get something from the match.

My memory drifts back to the 1973 / 1974 season when the Hatters travelled to the Hawthorns for a crucial match, a fixture that those attended will never forget, a draw gave the Harry Haslam managed side promotion, I, for one, would settle for a similar result this weekend, how about you?
