As we get ready for the season-opener, against Portsmouth, at Fratton Park this afternoon, we thought we’d take the opportunity to bring you a few facts and figures relating to the clash.

Unfortunately, our first statistic doesn’t bode well for Luton supporters, it appears that the Hatters have lost 5 of the last 7 league meetings with the south coast club and have drawn the other two, not even a sniff of a win, time to change that methinks starting with this afternoon.

In fact, delving a little deeper it appears that the Hatters haven’t won an away league game, against Portsmouth since 1975, some 43 years ago, now that is an age!

Furthermore, as we dig deeper and deeper it gets gloomier and gloomier with the record books showing Luton have lost 7 of their last 8 visits to Fratton Park, drawing the other game and haven’t scored in any of the last 4 games.

Portsmouth, it would seem, have done a deal with the fixture computer, in 6 of the last 7 seasons they’ve started the campaign with a home fixture.

It would seem, the Hatters need a win today to re-write the record books!
