Yesterday, against Stoke City, I was probably not the only supporter to be puzzled when the team-sheet was revealed and our leading scorer, James Collins, was not in the starting eleven or even the eighteen-man squad.

Naturally, I assumed that the international striker had picked up an injury that prevented his selection.

But that, it seems, was not the case.

Nathan Jones, as confirmed by Luton Today has cleared up matters by remarking that there are fears his star striker may have been infected by the COVID-19 virus with the boss remarking:

“He’s not felt well, so we’ve had to pull him out, as is the thing.

“In today’s society, when someone feels ill, then you have to pull them out as there is a disease going round, a pandemic, just in case anyone doesn’t realise.

“So we’ve had to pull him out from the game and test him, then we’re awaiting results on that test.
“I don’t know if it will be positive, my crystal ball I haven’t put on for a while.

“So if anyone feels ill then the whole world panics as it could be Covid and then there could be another pandemic within Luton Town.”

Clearly the sensible option was taken and safety-first measures were observed.

Fingers crossed that James tests negative and is available for selection for the trip to take on Millwall on Tuesday evening, a game that will be broadcast live by Sky Sports.

I’m hoping obviously that Collins is cleared to play & hope NJ plays Danny alongside him as I stated in a previous post to see if how they get on together at this level as up till now I personally am surprised NJ has not given this option a chance. They know how each other plays & were very successful in the lower leagues. I would then bring on Cornick when Millwalls defence are tiring.
