Tomorrow evening, the Hatters are on the road again as they face Millwall, in a Championship fixture, at the New Den, in South London.

Once again, with the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic affecting the country, the game will take place behind-closed-doors.

It is a scenario that is having a major effect when it comes to revenue streams for EFL clubs.

There has been no gate revenue since the 2019 / 2020 season was halted, back in March.

Numerous column inches have been generated warning that numerous clubs, due to the ongoing financial problems, could go to the wall.

But the cries for help continue to be ignored.

I get the feeling that the government could not give a damn if clubs go bust and when it comes to the Premier league offering assistance, it appears the top clubs want something in exchange.

This morning though, it appears that we could be about to see the EFL clubs’ bond together and make a significant stance.

According to The Sun, there is talk of the EFL clubs withholding their tax payment to secure a bailout from the government.

Our referenced source informs us that a PAYE tax payment is due, from each of the 72 EFL clubs, on Thursday.

The idea of withholding the tax money was discussed by the clubs last week and our source believes that every club is prepared to stick together to force through this issue.

Now we all know that the punishment for not paying tax could be a winding-up order but then again, I cannot see the authorities issuing winding up orders for all 72 EFL clubs.

Something needs to be done to help our national sport as I cannot see, in the current climate, spectators being allowed back into the grounds, thereby providing revenue, until at least March next year.

It seems that the government could not care what happens to clubs in the EFL. As for the Premier League well greed and utter contempt for the football pyramid is very everdent as they also do not want to help its a case of I’m allright jack sod every one else
