Luton’s Danny Hylton Criticised By Hatters Support But Is It Justified Or Not?

As somebody who taps away regularly on my laptop keyboard, I am all too familiar with the term keyboard warrior.

Sometimes it is the easy option to simply tap in a disparaging remark and hit the return key to post / send it.

Following the Hatters defeat yesterday, at the hands of Stoke City, I could not fail to notice just how many negative social comments had been left on the Luton Town official Twitter site relating to Danny Hylton.

Most were of a very negative nature, as those posted below illustrate:

Now I have never been one to overly criticise anyone who pulls on a Luton Town shirt, my view is that they deserve our continual backing to spur them on.

But the perception being aired by some is that Danny Hylton, although a loyal servant of the club, is not up to the standard required in the Championship.

Is that something you agree with or, like me, do you think that give regular game time Danny will come good?

Hi MH, I think Danny was of course very unlucky with injuries & then was never used by GJ then since NJ returned has only been involved as a bit part player. I think therein lies the problem, he has been playing catch up ever since & like Luton last season, the championship takes time to acclimatise for club & player alike. I do feel that NJ should have played him more often with Collins to find out how they got on together at this level but perhaps we will never find out the answer to that one. I personally would give him a run in the side as it’s the only way we will know one way or the other. The only thing that does concern me however is his disciplinary record. I hope it still all works out for himself & Luton too.

I do think that we should of won yesterday .As for Hilton not sure he is good enough at this level may be a run in the side will help. Nathan Jones will need to get a striker in January mid table finish for me would be happy with that I think we will just edge it Tuesday night much stronger side than last season give Morrell and Clark a start

Instead of worrying about Hylton we should be worrying about the central defenders, once again concede 2 goals both from crosses into the box. Whats happened to Welsh international Locker? Our central defence was not good enough last season until Carter Vickers was signed on loan. We were told that Luton didn’t want to have him back on loan this season as we wanted to buy players and develop them. So what do we do get two players on loan.

Hi all, cheer up boys, 5 games in, 6th in the league…..early days…sat was a bad result, but u don’t get 16 corners if your not attacking…as I’ve said before, we are short of strikers, but instead of pointing fingers let’s see where we are 10 games in. Who knows the lad from mk maybe another andre gray. He took time but we all know what happened when he got going…patience at the moment….

Hi why have we signed so many mid fielders when the ones we have don’t get another game time Moncur LuaLua LuaLua N J will probably play his new lone signings but that doesn’t take us forward what’s happened to the boy from Leeds. There will be so many plays not getting a game the morale of players will drop then were will we be

Les, o’kane from leeds is nowhere near fit after his double leg break. I also think if you look at the amount of games coming up between now and xmas ( sat, tues/ wed, sat) I think we will see everybody used at some point.

I must agree with Geoff, our defending is poor, we don’t seem to compete against 50/50 balls, or shut down the cross coming in.
The first goal, unmarked free header at the far post, the second goal, to many orange shirts trying to defend in the 6-yard box, all backing off, they just get in each other’s way.
also, on the attacking front, we do get into good areas around the box, but instead of finding a telling pass we get greedy and try to shoot at impossible angles.
if we weren’t so greedy, we would have got something out of that game
we have signed some good players; they need to start on Tuesday.

Blimey, one defeat and its doom and gloom….roll on tuesday…come on luton

Sadly hylton is past his best after his injury and age why oh why not give lua lua a chance holds the ball up brilliant goes by people easily wins lots of freekicks I just think Jones doesn’t like him as for Collins I’m not his biggest fan either technically he is very limited and lacks pace

  • Bob J says:

yes fixture congestion is taking its toll but thats the same for all clubs.
We seem to have an abundance of midfield players but sadly only one real striker which is a BIG problem.
Danny H is sadly not up to Championship standard as we are seeing and the fact that we couldn’t conjure up any significant goalscoring chances in the past 2 games is worrying and I fear that will continue.
As has been expressed by others on here and talking with other supporters I think we have shot ourselves in the foot by not getting an experienced striker during the transfer window.
