It Is Bad News For Luton Fans As They Seek To End A 2-Game Goal Scoring Drought Against Sheffield Wednesday

The last two games have seen Luton Town fail to score.

2-0 defeats at home to Stoke City and away to Millwall have seen the Hatters not only fail to score but also to create any significant chances.

It is a statistic that has featured heavily on social media, with the comments below highlighting the point:

It is no coincidence that our top striker, James Collins, did not feature in any of those games, with the striker having been forced to isolate after developing COVID-19 like symptoms.

It was hoped that Collins would return to lead the attack against Sheffield Wednesday, this weekend, but that will not prove to be the case.

It has been confirmed, as reported by Luton Today that James Collins has tested positive for COVID-19 and is still in isolation.

The earliest Collins will be available to play is in the home fixture against Nottingham Forest next Wednesday evening.

If that is the case and with Harry Cornick suffering a groin injury ahead of the Millwall game and with Danny Hylton struggling to make an impact, could it be an opportunity for Sam Nombe to be given a start?

Nombe is untried and earmarked for the future but he could bring something different to a Luton strike force that has looked far from dangerous in the last two games.

Is it a move Nathan Jones should consider?

Should Nathan Jones Start Sam Nombe Against Sheffield Wednesday?

Hi all, think everyone needs to be a bit more positive. It’s only 2 bad games….I’m sure dewsbury-hall will play Saturday and probably the young lad from MK…cornick hopefully will be back. I know people get on his back, but he does scare defences when he runs at them. Morrell should start and he is quality. Like I said earlier, whoever played up front last would have struggled as the midfield was totally out of sorts….

Also I find it quite ironic that collo came in for some criticism when he missed a ” sitter” against the scum…now everyone is panicking as he is going to be out for a couple of games…

  • Danny says:

we were also poor at w*****d Alan, that’s 4 defeats out of 5 which is concerning but still far too early to start panicking like some of the social media drama queens.
Not seeing how Collins could be back for the Forest game in a weeks time though, he has to isolate for 14 days, unless he’s already done a week of isolating ?

Surely its three wins three defeats out of 6….we were poor at scum, but I’m just repeating the criticism that some put on collo…..feel the same tho….no panic…as for the wycombe game more often that not that is a banana skin for us….

Should have signed a proven goal scorer in transfer window he needs to shake things up start with the new signings

  • Danny says:

looking at the whole picture not part of it which is easier said than done mind when your on a bad run, so with that in mind and playing Alan’s advocate we have a 50% win rate in the league and 66% win rate in the cup, not too shabby 🙂
