Defeats are always a difficult pill to swallow but even harder when you see your side get soundly beaten and outclassed for most of the ninety minutes.
Therefore, although the disappointment at the result ruined many a Saturday night, you have to admire our gaffer, Nathan Jones, stepping forward and, as reported by The BBC give a very honest assessment of what we had all just witnessed, remarking:
“I’m embarrassed if I’m being honest, because of the level of performance. Regardless of what we wanted to do and how we wanted to start we went 2-0 after nine minutes.
“The goals we gave away were a real embarrassment and we have to be better than that.
“It wasn’t a good day at the office, it was our third game in a week, we had low energy and we didn’t play well and we got punished for it. I wish I had made 11 changes, I genuinely do and we have to address that.
“We seem unable to handle three games in a week and keep this high levels so I’m going to have to make changes and freshen things up to get the level of performance.”
Yes, something does need changing but perhaps our limited squad, when it comes to real quality, is now showing through.
Following the defeat, the social media contained some interesting posts relating to Nathanโs team selection:
Just do not understand NJโs team selection today. Where were the likes of Lockyer , Morrell , Bree from the start. On that performance another relegation dog fight could be looming. Oh well, only Norwich next week๐

Another post concentrated on the fact the side appeared intimidated by Cardiff and were too defensive:
Not forget, learn from!!!
Morrell and KDH should be our midfield starters, need to be more attacking focused as passing around at the back caused us more problems today than anything.

Clearly, everyone has a view when things go horribly wrong, as they did down at the Cardiff City Stadium, but it is clear that Nathan and his team have some serious thinking to do ahead of the visit of Norwich City, on Wednesday.
If you were in charge, what would you do?

I would have substituted Simon at half time after the injury to his left shoulder. He did not have full mobility and could not commit during his attempt with the third and fourth goal. TEAM Game!!!!
