Ahead of the trip to South Wales, to take on Cardiff City, it was acknowledged that it would be a difficult fixture.

However, our blind loyalty did suggest that the Hatters might surprise everyone and get a result.

How wrong we were!

The Hatters produced, arguably, the worst performance of the season in slumping to a 4-0 defeat.

In fact, it was reminiscent of the dark days when Graeme Jones was in charge.

Naturally, such a glum result was not well received by the Luton Town support on social media, with the fans not afraid to let rip as the posts below illustrate:

Indeed, it could, if Nathan Jones cannot engineer an immediate recovery then our good start to the season could all be in vain as we slip down the table, something another poster was keen to point out:

With another providing the perfect antidote to such an abysmal display:

And, of course, there is always someone willing to go to the extreme:

Hopefully, that post was left in jest.

But what is wonderful in what is a truncated season, the fixtures are coming thick and fast. This Wednesday evening, we welcome Norwich City to Kenilworth Road, for a Championship fixture:

And, if you need a positive from the 4-0 defeat, how about this post for an uplifting thought:

Luton Town v Norwich City?

Luton Town to Win!

Norwich City to Win!

Norwich City to Win!

A Draw!

A Draw!

We have a renowned centre half & striker on our coaching staff, but we cant defend & we dont score goals…worrying..also watch the 2and goal again if u can bear too,,,I was critical of tunicliff last season & 1st half against rotherham, again yesterday their player is bombing down the flank & tunicliff runs with him never tries to stop him, then nearly stops as the player crosses the ball…he ain’t good enough…we have an massive of midfield players better than him…also if locks is fit he has to start get rea back in midfield as a holding position….apart from that who knows….

I didn’t think Cardiff were that good, but we made them look like Man City.

Pearson and Bradleys recent defending was shambolic, but it’s not just them.
Rea doesn’t look comfortable and would have more impact in the midfield, Sluga is a good shot stopper, but you can see he’s edgy, I think Shea is a better all-round keeper and has more presence in the box.

This won’t have done our confidence any good, but if Jones can make a few tweaks and we can go on another run like we did after the last heavy defeat, I will take that.
Let’s start by getting three points on Tuesday ☺
