Another day, another installment.

Today should have been a day I’d been waiting to arrive for ages.

With my birthday looming large on the horizon, I was scheduled to spend a weekend in Berlin, a weekend away from the daily grind and a weekend of fine food, German beer and a little bit of sightseeing on a boat drifting down the River Spree.

But it isn’t going to happen is, it!

The dreaded COVID-19 virus has put paid to that with air travel not permitted and Germany having closed its borders.

Instead, the trip has been put back until mid-June, at the earliest.

So, instead of eating the local delicacies and sampling numerous beers brewed in accordance with The Reinheitsgebot, I’m spending another day in self-isolation, life can be so cruel.

Will I get to go in June, who knows!

Today, Friday, should be the day which greets the start of the weekend with anticipation building with regards to the Hatters weekend fixture, but with a lock down in place and the EFL suspended, it’s highly likely that I’ll be sat contemplating just what CD’s to listen to and what DVD’s to watch.

With another 11 weeks to go before there’s any chance of emerging outside into the real world, the realisation of what a grind it is going to be is hitting home.

I feel like I’m in a prison cell, my only exercise being the few times I sneak out of the backdoor for a stroll up the drive, knowing that past the end of the drive there’s nothing of any real interest to do or see.

Last night, saw the good people of Luton stand outside and offer a round of applause for the key workers who are putting their own health at risk to help those who are suffering, it was heart-warming to see so many participating, bashing saucepans together, clapping hands and ringing bells, okay it was a bit of a racket, but a deserving racket.

Today, like the last few nights, I’ll watch the sun go down through the front window then have a few beers watching the goggle box, I wonder if the fare served up will befit a Friday night or will it be the same old dross?

Stay tuned for another thrilling installment tomorrow!
