Luton Town – The Sides Of March

March 2024 is now confined to the history books and for Luton Town fans the end of the month couldn’t come quick enough.

During March the Hatters played 5 fixtures even though there was a 14-day break courtesy of international football.

In those 5 fixtures, the Hatters failed to win a solitary game, drawing against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest and losing against Aston Villa, AFC Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur.

But it is the manner of those defeats that irks me,

Points were lost against Aston Villa courtesy of an 89th minute goal from Lucas Digne, points were lost against AFC Bournemouth due to a winner in the 83rd minute from Antoine Semenyo and this came after the Hatters led 3-0 at half-time and, of course, the latest defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur came after Son netted in the 83rd minute.

Do I see a common trend emerging?

Perhaps so, but March will also be remembered for Luton Town grabbing draws against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest courtesy of late goals from Cauley Woodrow in the 96th minute and Luke Berry in the 89th minute.

It may be thrilling stuff for the neutral supporter and the armchair brigade, but it is doing little for my health.

But with the Hatters only taking 2 points out of a possible 15 available, March hasn’t done our survival hopes any favours.

Looking at our regular monthly prediction poll, we find that 19% of those that voted predicted our points return would be so low, did they know something we didn’t?

Hopefully, April will be a more productive month as we seek to retain our Premier League status.
