Luton Town – The Season Re-Starts Today

The Hatters season, in my opinion, re-starts this afternoon as we seek to stave off the threat of relegation.

Back in August, when we opened our 2023/2024 season with a trip to Brighton, I’d have willingly snapped your hand off if you’d have suggested we’d still be in with a decent chance of retaining our Premier League status with a dozen games to go.

However, there can be no more pussy footing around, no more defensive mistakes, every point dropped sees that relegation trap door creak open a little bit more.

This afternoon, the Hatters make the relatively short trip to Selhurst Park, to take on Crystal Palace, a club who have recently axed Roy Hodgson and appointed Oliver Glasner, who has influenced something of a Palace revival which has seen the South London club put a gap of eight points between us and them.

If, as I hope, our season is to start (again) today, the Hatters will need to reverse a recent trend that has seen Luton Town lose their last our Premier League fixtures on the bounce, but despite taking 0 points from the last 12 available, the Luton support, in our pre-match poll, reckon the Hatters will take the three points on offer with 71% showing confidence in the injury depleted squad.

As for the remainder of those that voted, 16% can see it ending in a draw while the remaining 13% reckon it’ll end in a fifth straight Premier League defeat for Rob Edwards.

As for me, I’ve every confidence that, if we can eliminate those costly defensive errors, we will get back to winning ways.

the great escape begins today. i hope that injured players can soon be fit, because we sure need them. we have seen miracles at luton before, lets hope for another one. what an amazing group of players we have assembled for a relatively small outlay, compared to other premiership teams. the manager is positive, but also realistic. the board have gone above and beyond. we surely deserve another season in the premier league. a little bit of luck would go a long way.
