And so, it came to pass that on Friday 24-April the Luton hierarchy decided that Graeme Jones and his entourage were, after all, not the team to take the club forward.

For Graeme Jones, the axe fell at an inopportune moment, after all, who’d have expected such a bold statement from the board during such trying times?

But, the axing of Graeme Jones leaves the Hatters in an uncompromising position.

Mick Harford has been appointed in a position that can, at best, only be described as a liaison role, looking after players and reporting back to the board.

We all know Mick is reticent to return to full-time management and it remains to be seen whether the board if there is a resumption of the COVID-19 hit season, have an ace up their sleeves and have a new man ready to appoint.

However, when it comes to posts on social media sites the name of one man is starting to become a prominent feature, that of our previous manager, Nathan Jones:

After seeing his move to Stoke City not live up to expectations, Nathan is currently looking for a new job.

There’s no doubting that Nathan knows our club inside out and there’s also no doubt that several supporters would welcome the return of the man who did so well while in charge at Kenilworth Road.

Although I’m not sure it is the right decision to make a return to a previous club, even more so when you consider the manner in which Nathan opted to leave Kenilworth Road, numerous posts do support the return of him:

Like I said earlier, I have my doubts, but what are your feelings on the subject?

It’ll be interesting to see how this poll pans out.

But in winding up this article, I’ll leave you with a social media post that raised a smile on my face in these grim times:

Thankfully he well and truly burnt his bridges with the board at Luton with his classless exit strategy so they certainly wouldn’t entertain the welsh crackpot a 2nd time.

A paltry 7 wins out of 38 games as a Championship manager shows he was way out of his depth and clearly not the man to take us forward.

No more rookie managers this time around, let’s have some proven to take over the reins.

Nj didn’t do to bad as a rookie 1st time…think there would a few players keen to welcome him back…shame gj upset alan sheehan & forced him out, he could have worked under mick for the remander of this season, then give him a go next….

good point, could have been the partnership to keep us in the championship, if the season ever resumes.
