And so, the search for the next manager of Luton Town Football Club begins in earnest.

Reading into the statement released by the club on Friday, after the axing of Graeme Jones, it’s not a position we expect to be filled in the immediate future.

Indeed, the text released suggested that Mick Harford will take the reigns for the remainder of this season, as the Hatters seek to save cash during the financial crisis the sport is set to enter following the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, it is a position that will have to be filled soon and already, today, we’ve covered the possibility of a return of Nathan Jones – luton-town-supporters-would-welcome-the-return-of-a-familiar-face-in-the-kenilworth-road-hot-seat something supported by those who frequent the world of social media.

However, the world of social media has also provided, a few other possibilities:

But, as we all still try to decipher exactly what we witnessed on Friday, who do the media have in their list of possible candidates?

According to the wonderfully named The Sack Race the list looks as thus:

– Nathan Jones (unemployed) – 4-6
– Stephen Robinson (Motherwell) – 4-1
– Michael Flynn (Newport) – 8-1
– Paul Heckingbottom (unemployed) – 8-1
– Paul Hurst (unemployed) – 12-1
– Steve Rutter (Atromitos) – 12-1
– Ian Baraclough (Northern Ireland U21s) – 14-1
– Gary Bowyer (unemployed) – 14-1
– Darren Ferguson (Peterborough) – 14-1
– Grant McCann (Hull City) – 14-1
– John Askey (Port Vale) – 16-1
– Jim Magilton (unemployed) – 16-1
– Darrell Clarke (Walsall) – 20-1

Is there anyone on that list that gets you all excited?

Or are you bemused by what appears to be a list of run-of-the-mill names?

It’s interesting that Nathan Jones is the odds-on favourite.

Hi mh, looking through the list of candidates apart from Nathan and Steve non fill me with excitement. I still think there will be plenty of choice later an I hope the board don’t rush to appoint anyone yet

I am surprised that Nathan Jones is the odds on favourite for the vacant managers position. Okay, he did a good job while he was at the Kenny but for all his badge pumping loyalty and so called christian values he jumped ship as soon as the fat cheque book was waved. The fans still berate Tony Thorpe for similar traitorous values so how is Nathan Jones even being considered?
