With the January transfer window open, here at Vital Luton Town, we reckon there will be some departures as well as some arrivals.

The necessity to abide by the rules, both financial and squad size, dictate that very fact.

So far, in this window, we’ve seen several players return mid-way through their season long loan spells – the-perils-of-the-loan-system – covering the recalling of Aribim Pepple, Joe Taylor and Elliot Thorpe and and-another-returns-to-the-fold – covering the return of Fred Onyedimna, and also the fact that Joe Taylor has been recalled, from Colchester United and loaned out to Lincoln City for the remainder of the season – loanee-set-to-return-but-not-for-long.

With regards to new deals, the only incoming so far has been that of Tom Holmes, from Reading – first-signing-of-the-transfer-window-is-confirmed – who, upon announcement of the deal was promptly loaned back to Reading for the remainder of the season.

So, who could be the first to leave?

Our recent poll suggested that this month could see the departure of Cauley Woodrow, with the result confirming that the striker, who has struggled to get a regular place in the starting XI, since returning to Kenilworth Road, where his career started, from Barnsley.

Indeed, it was a somewhat one-sided poll with 85% of the view that Woodrow will be moving on this transfer window and only 15% believing he still has a future at the club.

If Cauley is to leave then my view is that he will have to drop down a league and perform in the EFL Championship, if he wants regular football.

We can only wait and see.
