Luton Town – Loanee Set To Return But Not For Long

With the January transfer window now open, I’m looking forward to monitoring the transfer activity in and out of Kenilworth Road.

This morning I’ve awoken to the suggestion that one of our squad who is out on loan is set to be recalled early.

According to several sources, including Luton Today, the Hatters are set to recall Joe Taylor from his loan spell with the League Two side, Colchester United.

Now it is not because Joe’s loan spell hasn’t worked out, far from it.

During his spell with the Essex based side, Joe has scored 12 goals in 27 games, a decent return considering Colchester United have been struggling in the lower reaches of League Two.

However, reading between the lines, it doesn’t look as if Joe is set to claim a place in the Hatters squad, instead it is being suggested that the Hatters hierarchy are set to loan Joe, for the remainder of this season, to a League One club, although his precise destination has yet to be confirmed.

Clearly the idea is that Joe should be given the chance to show that he has the ability to produce the goods in a slightly higher grade of football.

If that is the case then it is sensible management of Joe’s career by those who monitor those players who have been sent out on loan.

But, is it a move you approve of or would you like to see him given a chance in top-flight football with Luton Town?

Personally I think it’s a mistake to loan him out again. I feel he better than he’s given credit for an totally different to other strikers we’ve got he sniiffs in the penalty box an scores unlike others who miss. I would prefer him in our squad.

a point i agree with Chris

Agree 100%! Taylor is an on the shoulder striker and when we are chasing games (which we will be), he could be good to come on after 70 mins. I’m fed up with seeing Woodrow strolling around.

I don’t think we have to add Taylor to the squad as he is only 21 and born after 1/1/2002.

I agree with Chris, the lad deserves a chance. Perhaps loan out Woodrow instead who hasn’t show much to excite.

don’t think any of our young players will make the team this season, except maybe cup games. hope that taylor and mc.atee have succesful loans.COYH.

Of course you are correct Jimbo. Good young players rot in our development squad,? Or loaned to league teams below there capabilities to get their transfer fees inflated!!!!!!!
