Back in the summer, a period during which the Hatters made a plethora of signing, Ryan Giles joined the club.

Giles, signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers, had enjoyed a successful season at Middlesbrough and the move, for the attacking defender, looked to be a good one.

Indeed, it is thought that the rumoured £5 million Luton Town paid for the player could make him our highest incoming transfer, but it is hard to confirm that with most of our deals being described as ‘undisclosed fees’.

Rob Edwards, our gaffer, knew what Giles was capable of, getting to know him when both were on the books of AFC Telford.

However, since signing for Luton Town, it hasn’t been all sunshine and flowers for Giles with the former England U20 player only making a smattering of starts, in the Premier League.

Therefore, it doesn’t come as too much of a surprise to see that Giles, according to several sources, including – Football League World – that Giles is being linked with a move away from Kenilworth Road this month.

According to our referenced source, the player is being linked with a return to the EFL Championship, either permanently or on loan, with Cardiff City and Leeds United being the potential front runners for his services.

Now we all know that circumstances, especially injuries, can decimate a squad very quickly and, unless a replacement for Giles is already lined up, I’d be very surprised if Giles was released.

But do you concur with that view, or would you beg to differ?

Leeds need to give some ££ and Drameh

With the run in coming up it will be all hands to the pump doughty’s form is the only reason Giles can’t get in the team not lack of ability. So I see no chance of a loan.As for dremah that boat has sailed.

If we can recover the transfer fee by selling him to Leeds, I would go for it. His concentration levels are not Premier League level and he demonstrably switches off two or three times a game. My mate in Middlesboro noticed this last season, but the consequence was not as bad in the Championship. We have cover for Doughty with Bell with either Burke or Mads slotting into the back three.

As for Drameh, I am conflicted as to whether he is a better option than Kabore. He is stronger, looks more assured and is a better crosser but Kabore is probably quicker. Leeds could recall him from Birmingham and sell him.

  • Peter Scott says:

Its a bit presumptuous to say he is out of favour – if he is then so is Pelly and Luke Berry! The Prem League requires squad play which means that not all players will play every game. Why would we loan out the guy who obviously is a class player?

  • Bill says:

I’ve not seen anything in his play that would make me particularly bothered if he went. Don’t loan him out though I wouldn’t want him back.
