On a regular basis, well everyday to be honest, I always check the transfer gossip pages to see if Luton Town get a mention.

Unfortunately, we rarely do.

However, scanning the media today it would appear that our reputed interest in the Blackburn Rovers player, Sam Szmodics, has escalated.

Although the rumours, covering Luton’s interest in Szmodics have been persistent, the Sun, are reporting that Luton Town are set to make a bid for the 28-year-old who has shown his pedigree in front of goal this season.

Already, even though Blackburn Rovers are just outside of the EFL Championship relegation zone, Szmodics has scored on 23 occasions and also has 6 FA Cup goals to his name.

Our referenced source also mentions that the Hatters will pursue the signing of the player even if they are unable to secure their top flight status.

Naturally, with such a good scoring record, Szmodics is interesting other clubs, with Brentford getting a mention.

After signing Thomas Kaminsky from the Ewood Park based club last summer, I’d hope that relations between the two clubs are healthy.

But the possible signing would require one big question to be answered, who would he partner up front at Kenilworth Road, or could he be played behind a front two of Carlton Morris and Elijah Adebayo?

Although we’re obviously still at the rumour stage, what are your thoughts on the possible signing of Szmodics?

As I said in a previous post I’m a big fan of his, an he would be a great addition. But for me I think we should be looking for a couple of defensive midfielders as our biggest priority. No matter what division we are in next season I don’t see the need for a lot of signings.
