Luton Town Have The Perfect Opportunity To Get Back To Winning Ways This Saturday

It seems an age since I scribed a few thoughts for this site.

Sadly, it is a hazard of working a succession of 12-hour shifts.

Since I have been away, the Hatters 100% start to the season has come to an abrupt halt.

Okay, despite high optimism levels, I kind of expected that Manchester United would be too strong for us in the Carabao Cup and the defeat was, to a degree, palatable especially as we gave a good account of ourselves.

But Watford (a) was different, it was far worse losing to the old foe, especially when I believe we, on the pitch, did not do ourselves justice.

But football is a wonderful game and with fixtures coming thick and fast we have the chance to get back to winning ways, this Saturday.

Some might say it is an ideal opportunity to do so when Wycombe Wanderers visit Kenilworth Road.

Gareth Ainsworth’s side are competing in the Championship for the first time in their history but have not made the best of starts, picking up zero points from their first three games.

But, as we’ve learned in the past, we should not take anything for granted in this game but, suffice to say, I would be gutted if Wycombe made it two defeats on the trot, in the Championship, for the Hatters and I fully expect a Luton Town win.

That though is just my view, but how do you see this game going?

Hi all, personally i can’t stand watching us play Wycombe, they are one of those teams who will use every trick in the book to try and gain an advantage and will have probably added some new dire tactics this year in a desperate attempt to avoid the inevitable.
Playing hoof ball won’t work for them in this division but with limited players and no new players with championship experience i fully expect them to be relegated by March.
If we take our chances we will prevail tomorrow but i’ve got a feeling this game will be far from plain sailing, hope i’m wrong.

I am hopeful that we will return to winning ways on Saturday, but as Danny says Wycombe could of course spoil the party, they will make us earn the points that’s for sure. I think if Glen Rae returns as is likely he should make a big difference, think he is a very important cog in the Luton wheel. Also concerned how flat Luton were at Watford & NJ mentioned that perhaps the 3 game week had caught up with them let alone not enough pre season preparation. But only two players who were involved in the Derby Co match performed against Man Utd & Cornick & Lee only came on after 76 minutes so not sure about that statement personally. Just hope this pattern doesn’t continue in upcoming busy periods because let’s not forget that became a big problem last season under GJ’s stewardship too didn’t it?

Hi all, I still think last weeks performance was in some ways down to all the hype. Without fans it was just another game. This season will not be allowed to fall into the same pattern as last. We now have a manger who doesn’t point fingers…as for tomorrow’s game, get an early goal and it will change the way wycombe play….glen rea will be a massive boost…

Hi Alan, I think you could be right, NJ seemed pretty disappointed after the Watford match. Im sure he will subtly find a way to re energise the players & get them back on track with consistently higher performance levels than we saw last weekend. After all if someone had said we would win two of our first three league games & be knocked out of the league Cup by Man U with a mainly reserve side before the season started, I think most of us would have been more than happy with that outcome. I know I certainly would. Anyway let’s hope tomorrow at 5pm we will all have big smiles eh? COYH
