A flurry of activity, as the January transfer window closure approached, saw several young Hatters go out on loan.

The following:

• Josh Allen (AFC Sudbury)
• Jake Burger (St Albans City)
• Aribim Pepple (Inverness Caledonian Thistle)
• Jacob Pinnington (AFC Sudbury)

were all given the chance to impress, at their bracketed clubs, for the remainder of this season.

Of the four, perhaps the most notable is Aribim Pepple.

Since joining Luton Town, back in August 2022, from the Canadian club Cavalry, the (now) 21-year-old has struggled to make the impression hoped for.

Last season, Pepple spent time out on loan at Grimsby Town, but didn’t manage to get on the score sheet in the 11 league appearances he made.

This season, Pepple dropped down into non-league football, on loan, with Bromley but only featured 6 times, once again failing to hit the net.

With his appearances few and far between it wasn’t a surprise that the Hatters recalled him from a second unsuccessful loan spell.

Aribim’s latest adventure has seen him despatched to Inverness Caledonian Thistle, a side playing in the Scottish Championship. Now whether that is a step up or a step down from Bromley, who play in the National League, I’ll let you decide.

Now there is an element of risk when it comes to all transfers, moving to a new club, a new environment, always has the potential to throw up problems but when it comes to Aribim, I may be being a little harsh, but I reckon he’ll not establish himself as a Luton Town player, already the likes of Joe Taylor and John McAtee are ahead of him in the development stakes, probably harsh but probably true.

However, I’ve nothing against Aribim and I’d like to take this opportunity to wish him all the best in his new adventure and I hope he goes on to prove me wrong!

This is not a criticism of the recruitment team, it was probably worth taking a punt on him. However if he can’t get a game in the national league I don’t think he has a future with us. I can’t recall if we paid a fee for him but I feel he should be moved on.
