Luton Town – A Point Snatched Right At The Death At Selhurst Park

Perseverance and the spirit shown by the Hatters was there in abundance for all to see at Selhurst Park yesterday.

For most of the game it looked as if our injury ravaged squad and, to be honest, something of a lacklustre display, looked as if, despite gallant effort, Luton Town were set to slip to a fifth consecutive Premier League defeat.

But cometh the hour cometh the man, up stepped Cauley Woodrow to power home a header, that went in off the post, sending the Hatters travelling support wild with delight.

I’ll hold my hands up and admit that I was one, of several, who thought that Cauley might have exited Kenilworth Road, in the January transfer window, but the current injury crisis has only served to prove me wrong.

Indeed, if that goal plays a part in Luton Town stying up then Cauley, along with every other member of the squad should be given the freedom of Luton.

Unfortunatlely Luton, once again, gave themselves a mountain to climb after gifting Crystal Palace the lead courtesy of yet another defensive error and they certainly rode their luck with our hosts spurning several good chances to increase their lead and put the game to bed, but such is life when it comes to this wonderful game of hours.

With Everton losing against Manchester United and Sheffield United United drawing with AFC Bournemouth, the importance of that last-gasp goal cannot be over emphasised as we seek to retain our Premier League status for yet another season.

Morning mh, whilst bowing to Alan with regards to the number of injuries we have the poor start an woeful passing by to many people on the pitch could have meant we lost four or five goals. But yet again everyone put in a magnificent shift kaminski is the reason we are still in it and fighting.I would have to say that no matter the outcome at the end of the season he has to be player of the season he’s the one who has kept us in games.Outfield players get the glory an keepers are the forgotten defenders. Barkley not withstanding he always had it in him kaminski without doubt has been our outstanding bargain signing of preseason. Wonder if others agree with me.

    • Mad Hatter says:

he’s certainly a candidate Chris, in my view he’s up there with the best keepers we’ve had

      • Andrew says:

Kaminski has got to be one of the best buys for us in a long time , it’s such a shame he hasn’t got more clean sheets this season as he deserves more and would have had them but for some bad defending. COYH

    Here here chris, well said……

100% agree. I think we would be dead and buried by now without his consistent brilliant performances. I asked on the previous post if Alan has any info he can share regarding contract discussions. It seems that only 4 or 5 1st team squad extend beyond June

    • Chris winter says:

Hi ray, I don’t think your information is correct certainly some players are coming to the end of contract but it’s not anyone we cannot afford to replace put it that way. Definitely not 20 and some like perrara muskwe will get free transfers an two or three fringe players like Campbell berry may leave.

agree kaminski has been a fantastic addition . for me mengi has been a godsend. he is like a rock in defence. also lokonga when he plays makes such a massive difference. with lockyer and nakamba out for the foreseeable future, lets hope our injuries start to improve. what a truly unbelievable point at palace. this team just dosen’t know how to give up. long may it continue. Hi Chris this is where I got the info from. I agree it may be wrong. You will need to copy and paste as I can’t make a hyperlink, must be my age

    • Chris winter says:

I know of this site as Luton doesn’t publish players contracts of any source it goes on rumoured lengths. I get my information from friends who played for us and now act as agents or were agents and still are in the know as they played with or know the owners well Godfrey Ingram an of course Mick. We old MIGs used to drink with many players in Mick’s club an the mighty club run by John Ashton the boxer an Luton blacks leader. So although they never reveal to much it’s not 20 I promise.

      • Ray says:

Really pleased that it isn’t. Whichever way the season ends we need to keep the group together as much as possible. I’ll consign that set to the bin.
