Luton – Time To Be Brave

It’s at this stage of the season, around the halfway point, that I start to pay serious attention to the league table.

With 22 of the 46 games played, in Luton’s case, the foundations have been laid that could, very well, determine the outcome of the season.

The fact that Luton’s game, against Millwall was postponed may have sullied the data slightly, but the table still makes for interesting reading.

From the 22 games played the Hatters have accumulated 30 points and occupy 15th place in the table, a mere 4 points adrift of the race for a play-off place but only 6 points clear of a relegation place.

This season, the Championship table is so compact it is hard to predict just where many teams will finish, I guess, for the neutral, this keeps things very interesting.

But when it comes to predicting just where Luton Town might finish, matters are somewhat complicated by the fact we’ve had a managerial change, with Nathan Jones now confined to the history books and Rob Edwards now in charge of the first team.

Although Edwards lost his first game in charge, I’m hopeful that, as they say, he gets his feet firmly under the table we’re more likely to be chasing a play-off place rather than trying to stave off relegation.

But, putting your head above the parapet, how do you sess the remainder of the 2022/2023 season going?

Are you brave enough to make a prediction?

For all the changes this season I stick to my position from the start of the season 10th to 15th.

alot will depend on if we are able to bring in some quality at centre half and creativity in midfield. If we can get that quality in those areas then top 10, if not, i think the 2nd half of the season could turn into a bit of a slog if our home form doesn’t improve and key players don’t return soon.

Let’s hope Dean Smith is still clinging on at Norwich for their Boxing day visit as he’s on his way out very shortly, a win for us and it will be the first time we’ve done the double over them since the early 80’s ………….

Don’t think Edwards is ready yet to blood youngsters jimbo so I expect familiar faces for the moment. But maybe someone new in the 10 slot we need Campbell in the middle again. Maybe Berry or freeman but then who gets dropped. An as for favs that’s just us teasing you 😊😊

Hi all….jimbo you can mention “favourites”as much as you want, it’s your opinion. My opinion is how can Edwards be accused of having “favourites ” when he has only been here 5 minutes. The term “favourites ” is often confused with players managers trust. But hey ho….
