Luton – Subtle But Blatant The Way Forward

With action involving Luton Town FC, being as rare as hens’ teeth, I’ll admit that I’ve been playing closer than normal attention to the recent test series between England and Pakistan.

Those that, like me, who watched the action will know that Ben Stokes led his team to a record breaking 3-0 win.

But before you all ponder why I’m rattling on about cricket, I’ll cut to the chase.

Whilst watching the action, I couldn’t help but notice the manner in which those who were broadcasting the action managed to sneak in some subtle advertisements.

On numerous occasions, David Gower was forced to interrupt his commentary to wax lyrical about a particular brand of tea or a toothpaste for sensitive teeth.

Naturally, my mind started to run riot and I couldn’t stop giggling, like an adolescent, at the promotion extending to feature something like condoms.

But before I dig a big hole for myself, I’ll change tact and simply ask if you could ever see such subtle, but in a blatant way, advertising introduced into our wonderful sport of football?

Hi mh, As a regular viewer of test matches. The commentators are renowned for the school boy prank of betting who can smuggle a subject into there commentaries as many times as possible be it song titles by a particular band or whatever. It started back in the day on radio in tms. When play was slow. Hope this helps you 😊😊📻
