Image for Luton – The Great Power Court Poll Result Revealed

Last week, ahead of the fixture against West Bromwich Albion, an article we published discussed our future new home.

The article – the-big-power-court-development-question – contained quotes, from Gary Sweet, that confirmed it is the clubs’ intention to, despite rising costs, see the project through to completion.

The article gave us the perfect opportunity to ask you, via a poll, when you believe which season you believe the Hatters will move into the complex.

We gave you three options to choose from:

A – 2024/2025 season

B – 2025/2026 season

C – Later Than The 2025/2026 season

Well, we can now reveal the result and it appears the majority, like me, believe option C is the answer with 70% reckoning it will be at least another 3 years before the day comes.

As for the other options, 23% went for option B, while 7% went for A believing it rise from the ground in rapid fashion.

If C is the correct option, I’m sure the wait will be well worth it as we herald a new dawn in the history of our club.

i will stick with 2027. i think it will be built earlier, but not ready to use. don’t forget, its much more than a new stadium, its a massive development, it must pay for itself, thats why housing must be built at the same time. money dose’nt grow on trees, and it would be easy to overstretch your finances. be patient.COYH.

Should of been option D pie in the sky all great intentions but buying and selling land is the story ( 2020 developments ) quiet apt

Honestly wish PC was going to happen but all the signs are not good. G Sweet has far blamed Brexit, Covid, changes to people’s shopping habits and needed changes to the original plans. What were these exactly?
The latest announcement was almost a surrender, switching the tone to one of hope rather than intent. Not encouraging to many.
Could it be the plan was to attract a buyer all along? Would look a decent proposal on paper, lack of debt, championship club, decent training facilities and land to build a stadium on prime ground? What could be an issue… can I suggest the asking price.
The accompanying sour note I will add is what happened to the promised transparency?
When the last owners were ousted, one of the promises was complete transparency on transfer dealings pointing towards how the last lot were syphoning cash out the back door (as exposed by M Newell) well now we have every transfer ‘undisclosed’ so what changed? Possibly the realisation that operating with an open purse isn’t healthy when negotiating player purchases or anything else to do with running a football club.
Are 2020 again learning lessons… this time about stadiums or selling a football club to rich investors?
    Hope not!
