Luton – The Consistency And Momentum Challenge

When you are in the midst of a run where you cannot, despite how you play, get a win for the love of money, confidence dips.

Last night, against Coventry City, the Hatters surpassed all expectations to rack up their biggest win of the season and grab what has become, recently, an elusive win and hopefully a victory that will see confidence levels soar.

It really was a case of going from the ridiculous to the sublime, but can the side maintain the performance level they produced last night of will it all come to a crushing end this Saturday when we welcome Huddersfield Town and Matty Pearson to Kenilworth Road?

Looking through the comments left, in the wake of our victory last night, I came across the following left by a valued contributor, Chris Winter:

“Morning all, well following Luton Town Football Club is certainly a roller coaster.

I didn’t see that scoreline coming. I’ve said it before and I repeat it now, this is the toughest league in the world.

Yesterday morning we were 17th and by 10pm we are 9th. If we lose on Saturday, we could drop to 19th. And lose the next one and be 21st, that is what is possible.

Now I’m not for a minute suggesting that but pointing out the situation. We all love what we saw last night. But we must now ensure consistency getting runs of 3 wins going and a draw before losing again. That will get us among the play off places.”

It is a post, I believe, sums up our predicament perfectly, but with the next four Championship fixtures looking as thus:

• Huddersfield Town (h)
• Millwall (a)
• Derby County (a)
• Hull City (h)

Can we, even with our ongoing injury situation, hit Chris’ potential target of 3 wins and 1 draw?

Let’s be positive….win sat, get players back after international break and win the next 3…..sod the negatives….I personally think we looked a lot stronger at the back with sonny back…rea looked back to his best after people doubts….but I think he only played as lansbury would have faced suspension if booked….a great all round performance….Harry could fly now confidence wise after netting twice….

Harry finished like a true striker!

Alan I wasn’t being negative just pointing out the facts about this league. An our 1 negative that being consistent. We are now in our 3rd year in this league an to get to play off places you have to get small runs going. An consistency is key look at all the established teams even they struggle to get that.

Hi all , this international break coming up is either going hind us by stopping any momentum we could get if we beat Huddersfield or it can help with getting a few more back from injury . Last night was great but we need to back it up this Saturday again with a win . I for one be glad when this stop start bit of the season is over . Coyh
