When, in the 13th minute, Luke Berry put the Hatters ahead in what was a must-win game, hopes were high that Luton Town could take the three points on offer in what was clearly a relegation dog-fight.

But those hopes were dealt a crushing blow when with just six minutes left, Barnsley equalised, taking the wind out of mine and all other Luton supporters sails.

The result leaves Luton rooted to the bottom of the table with four games left to play and with the club four points adrift of safety, although that, courtesy of our awful goal difference, could be treated as five.

Whilst it is still possible for the Hatters to survive, the last two results have left their mark on the Luton faithful and viewing social media this morning there is an air of doom and gloom circling over the club.

The consensus, borne out by the posts below:

suggest that all we’ve to look forward to is a return to League One.

Not a pretty thought but we’ve survived worse, have we not!

Hi mh, so brown has returned to Chelsea, with yet another injury. I don’t know about you but I felt he was a luxury for us talented but injury prone. Not really our type of player. I think he needs a team with more depth that can. Afford a luxury player an if he can sort out his injuries he could play in the championship. Otherwise I see him dropping down the leagues like others of his ilk.

Hi all, as I’ve said before izzy was a luxury, maybe injuries did hamper his performances. But in our position we needed players putting in tackles. You only have to look at berry since he has been back.bit of bite, bit of bottle.
