Kevin Blackwell has today completed his first signing as Luton Town manager, as expected, by bringing in Welsh Under-21 international David Edwards.

21 yr old midfielder Edwards has signed a three-year contract. No fee has been quoted but under league rules a fee could be required and if no agreement was reached between the clubs, the matter would go to tribunal to settle the compensation.

Edwards has started for the Shrews in 101 matches, and was ever present in last year’s campaign reaching the play-offs, until he was dropped for the final due to his refusal to sign a new contract. He has scored 15 goals for the Shropshire club including 6 last season.

Capped by Wales at Under-19 and under 21 levels, he is thought by many to be a likely candidate to step up to the full international side this season.
