Luton talking to Furlong?

Luton Town are quoted in the Times as wanting to sign Paul Furlong, the 38-year-old striker who was released by Queens Park Rangers at the end of last season. Kevin Blackwell is said to be considering the offer of a one-year deal, to dissuade Furlong from retiring.

Furlong has played for 7 league clubs and has been transfered for a total of £4.18 million.

His record boasts 163 goals in 397 league appearances although he played in 21 games last season, mostly as substitute for QPR and scored only 2 and of course one of those had to be against Luton in the 3-2 home defeat!

Furlong would be a good asset in League one and would score goals as well as providing knock downs playing as a target man, provided he is used sparingly, as he was used by QPR last year.

If a deal is struck, I would expect him to be employed in the supersub role that Enoch Showunmi played so beneficially for the Hatters, coming on for 20 minutes to set up or score a winner.
