Luton Sign A New Striker

|

Sods law is it not, I turn my back for an hour to do some domestic decorating and return to find Luton have signed another player.

For what seems like an age, the readership have been wanting the Hatters to sign another striker, someone experienced to share the workload with Elijah Adebayo.

And, according to Luton Town FC Official Site that is exactly what has happened.

The Hatters have announced that Cameron Jerome has joined Luton on a free transfer from MK Dons.

At 34-years-of-age, Jerome brings a wealth of experience to the squad having, during his career, played for the likes of:

• Middlesbrough
• Cardiff City
• Birmingham City
• Stoke City
• Crystal Palace (loan)
• Norwich City
• Derby County
• Goztepe (Turkey)
• MK Dons

Last season, playing in League One for MK Dons, Jerome made 34 league appearances and scored 13 goals.

Talking about his latest signing, Nathan Jones, as reported by The BBC has remarked:

“Cameron ticks so many boxes for us. He can do a bit of everything, so it’s a real logical one.

“We wanted someone specific because we’ve only got one target man really, and that’s Elijah Adebayo. So we wanted to bring in another target man, one for competition for Elijah, but also to provide something a little bit different as well.”

Which to us indicates Jones is not expected to play Jerome alongside Adebayo on a regular basis but could use the duo as a battering ram when needs must, but at the age of 34 and having dropped into League One last season will he cut the mustard?

With such a young squad, Jerome’s experience will be invaluable as we await the start of the 2021/2022 Championship season.

Hi mh, if you take a look at the comments on link to young midfielder. You will see that Alan an I still think a second striker could be coming. An I have put up a reason why we may have signed Jerome to Danny. If we sign a foreigner.

Hi Chris, I saw that, NJ seems to suggest Jerome won’t partner Adebayo on a regular basis, more as an impact player or to give Adebayo a rest. Hope the lad from Vienna also comes 🙂

Sometimes stealth is needed more than speed, and the experience to be in the right place at the right time. Adebayo has the chance to learn some ring craft from this guy and expand his range of skills. This man will be good for us.
