Winning 5-0 is always a pleasurable experience, even more so when the opposition, Coventry City, are flying high in the Championship table.
I read somewhere that the winning margin was our best at this level since the early nineties, can anyone verify that fact?
As a result, when it comes to Sky Sports midweek team of the week, covering the round of games played over Tuesday / Wednesday, Luton have three players in the side, with Nathan Jones also appointed as the manager:
• Allsop
• Forsyth
• Naismith
• Dickie
• Thompson
• O’Brien
• McNair
• Berry
• Chair
• Mitrovic
• Cornick
• Jones
As you would expect, announcing any eleven is always going to contentious, as I found out by visiting social media, with the following questioning who was behind the selection:
Who picked this lot, Mick McCarthey #WBAFC

Naturally, supporters of several teams, most notably, West Bromwich Albion, who won 4-0, away to Cardiff City, are a little miffed none of their side were awarded a place:
Not a single WBA player. What is life??

But, as this is a Luton site, I thought I’d pick out a few comments, relating to Luton players for you to discuss.
The first relates to Kal Naismith:
Whys a luton defender in there, they were bored all night 😂

Which brought the following splendid response:
Did u watch the game mate our defence was immense they stop all ur attacks b4 they even started without our defence u lot probably would of scored 3 maybe 4

It was interesting to see Harry Cornick named in the eleven, I would imagine it might have been a toss-up between Cornick and Elijah Adebayo for that second striker spot alongside Fulham’s prolific Alexandra Mitrovic.
But it is great to see Luton Town getting noticed, even if it did take a 5-0 rout of Coventry City for it to happen.
